“A Little Gem”

Excellent value for money and extremely interesting. I was lucky enough to chat with the owner who it's well worth chatting to if you get the chance.

It's a lovely set up inside, a mini Imprial War Museum in some ways but a little more personal. Some little gems as you go round, notably the video show.

Enjoy

“Fascinating”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

This museum is well worth going to see. There is no hurry for you to study and marvel at the exhibits. It is such a good collection of pre and war time items, and gives such a feel for what our parents and grandparents went through during the war (and after) with rationing, the blitz, clothing, laundry to name but a few and the make do and mend which was so important. Sit in an Anderson shelter with the sounds of bombs going off, experience the fear that the occupants felt not knowing what was going on outside during a raid. The whole experience is quite sobering but also amusing with some of the items on show. Try your hand at sending morse code. An museum not to missed.

“Interesting Museum”

Great museum how life was during WWII. Very well laid out. Torches a lovely touch. A lot of work has gone into this collection by the owner. Great to visit on a rainy day.

“Best little museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

If you love the home front this museum is for you. I visited on my own and was given a torch so I could look into the corners as it has the feel of being in a street during the night, looking into the shops. This reminded me a bit of the street at the castle museum in york. There are some really interesting film clips to help you "make do and mend". It was only £3.25 to enter and the lovely lady at the entrance knocked 25p off as I was following a school party round. The little gift shop was also good value. I would go again. Just brilliant.

“Good Value and Interesting”

We really enjoyed this. The owner turned a childhood interest and collection into a museum and his job. Really well done, an enjoyable hour or so was spent on a wet morning.
