“Very disappointing”
Reviewed July 14, 2008

From the photographs this hotel looks beautiful but be warned it is quite disappointing. Our room was pokey and outdated and for the price we paid we expected a lot better. The resteraunt too was disappointing as from the pictures you imagine great views however our view was of our car in the carpark!! The service was lovely and there were no complaints there. And the food was interesting tho a little over fussy, the best thing was the harpist playing while we ate, very relaxing, but never the less still overpriced for what we got.

We have just returned from a short break at St Tudno B&B.
I have to say I've stayed in many hotels in GB but this was a major let down for the money I spent.Don't be fooled by the pictures you see on the website. You'll think that the restaurant overlooks a valley but it is actually wall paper!
I booked a double room and a family room costing £140 and £160 respectively per night.
The double room is a joke with the width of the room just extending beyond the bed!The family room is only slightly bigger.
The first night none of us could sleep as we were kept awake by the sound of the sea gulls. You're well advised to carry a small fan along as the these rooms will be stiflingly hot at night.
The wall paper and the decoration could make you cry.The bathrooms though are clean. The towels and sheets were changed regularly.
The staff were very helpful.
Food was so so..nothing great.
This hotel is in a long line of similar sized hotels on the promenade but much much more expensive!
The good thing is the fabulous location of the hotel.

Just a few words to warn off potential visitors to this hotel. We booked 4 nights stay at the St.Tudno for a well-deserved break last Easter. More than anything it was the family room that disappointed us and especially at this price. This room at the back of the hotel didn't have double-glazing and there was therefore a great deal of noise from the adjacent pubs until late into the night. Nor did we find it particularly clean and found dust a several surfaces. Other minor problems such as the broken radiator cover and waste bin also gave the impression that the room was overpriced. It was generally very dated in terms of decoration, dated TV/VCR, etc. The hotel sitting areas are pleasant and the pool is useful if you have children but quite small and it's obviously been there a long time. The hotel has won many plaudits for being supposedly child-friendly and the staff are generally helpful, but we had the impression that it was more a question of keeping the children quiet and out of the way. Other than the children's tea time menu they don't put anything special on for them. The restaurant does serve lovely food and an OK breakfast, but we were shocked to hear some pretty bad language coming from the kitchen on one evening. We mentioned this pleasantly to the head waiter, but there was no apology or anything else done about it.
I certainly feel the hotel could improve some of its rooms and also felt the atmosphere could be improved.
There must be better value hotels than this in Llandudno!

Decided to stay here in business having heard many good things about the place but felt really disappointed in leaving. The room I was given was tiny and didn't feel it was terribly clean. The biggest let-down however was the level of service by staff, they just didn't seem to be in the least bit interested in in offering a half decent service and I had the distinct impression that we were just perceived as not worth worrying about. Not sure if this was due to the fact that we were a relatively young group and their primary concern was keeping he older clientele happy but felt very much ignored. Breakfast was ok though...

this hotel is absolutely lovely. it was all chance that we came to stay in this hotel as Stenaline had reccommended we stay in the st. george's hotel which is very near. we had booked it but when we got there and given our room we were not impressed. it was not nice at all and the receptionist helped us to find another hotel. the st. tudno hotel is lovely. the owner and staff knew our situation and were extremely helpful and pleasant. the toilets were lovely and clean. the rooms were lovely and the atmosphere in the hotel was very relaxing. they have a beautiful lounge and it was all very, very nice. i would reccommend it to anyone.

beautiful hotel, staff very very helpful, the rooms could be better for the high prices, bed could be better and the pillows in our sea view room were flat.saying that no doubt if we complained it would of been sorted out, the restaurant is first class from the food to the service. if you want first class service and food with above average rooms this is the place to stay

Sorry, but we have to agree with those other reviews that found the hotel to be at best tired, if not down right disappointing. It is good food for an hotel of this size and standard, but the accommodation and rooms fall well short of the prices charged.
