This hotel looked presentable from the front and when we booked in the receptionist was efficient but did not exude any friendliness. Our room on thr 3rd floor had been recently renovated and was cosy with the heating turned on,this was appreciated as it was a horrible day.
The tea &coffee set up was good and a nice sliding tray that presented it from the wardrobe was inovative.
There was an unnecessary standard lamp obstucting one of the sliding doors for wardrobe access, this was totally pointless and served no purpose whatsoever.
The new bathroom was good apart for a lack of tumblers to rinse your teeth and an all singing all dancing shower that looked better than it performed, also nice tiling not polished off. Breakfast, was a little disorganised in that the hot table was not brought in from the kitchen until 8-40 and we had to move our table as patrons were queing for their hot food where we had been placed. Food was ok apart from the dry overcooked bacon. As we did not pay over the odds for our 1,night stay i would say that this hotel presented reasonable value

Well location is great at the Iris Hotel. Very central and right on the sea front-when we pulled up we thought great off to a good start! Apart from the crazy carpet that messes with your eyes the lobby area seemed very welcoming. Reception were pleasant enough and they gave us the key to our family room. It was a weekend away to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary but our 2 children came with us due to no baby sitters. The room was very snug with the 2 double beds and a family cot in but you could see the sea if you leaned around the window frame. I thought it would be an ok night but as we sat in the room I noticed a strange banging noise. It was happening quite frequently. Then I realised it was the lift mechanism which was right outside our hotel room door. Every time somone pressed the lift there was a loud bang/clunk folllowed by lots of grinding noise. This continued all night long so I did not get a wink of sleep. When I mentioned it to the reception they just said oh yes it is loud isnt it! Not quite the response I was looking for. If we had paid say £50 for the night and it was a budget stay then I would have just accepted it, but to me we paid a fairly high price for NO sleep!
As some of the other posts also comment the breakfast was ok, just very unusual texture on the bacon but edible enough.
Overall I guess I would go back to the Iris hotel as long as I didnt stay in room 405 again as the lack of sleep totally took the niceness away from my celebration weekend.

Have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Iris. I would echo a number of the other comments made about this hotel. Its not bad, but its not good either. The renovations work has been completed on the cheap and the decoration is a little overpowering. The reception staff were not particularly welcoming and the team supporting the breakfast service were friendly but unable to cope with any questions or challenges. The breakfast is poor, beef rashers are definitely an acquired taste.
On the plus side the locations is excellent and Llandudno is a clean welcoming seaside resort with plenty of tourists, shame this hotel takes this for granted.
Will return to the resort but no the hotel.

we booked in here for a weekend stay, and i am going to try to be fair. The building is lovely on the outside, decor a bit bizarre on the inside (crazy carpets and wallpaper). Staff friendly enough. Problems started when we went to our room. The bedroom was modern and nicely furnished, however cleaning could have been better, we went to open our window to discover the sill covered in bristles and hair from someones beard or hair cut, yuk!! we reported it and someone did come and hoover it all up. Kettle in the room minging inside. Our friend who was in a single room had to try 3 different rooms as none of them were ready, although eventually one was cleaned and made available. We were looking forward to the cooked breakfast, which sounded promising. The rate included breakfast. However I can honestly say it is the WORST COOKED breakfast I have ever encountered. There is actually a good selection of food, when you go down, cereals, fruit, juice etc when you come down, but the cooked option looked like it had been sat there for hours. We were served by a member of staff but the whole thing was way past its best - the beans were dried up and congealed, the sausages were dry and shrunken, and inedible, the beef rashers were bizzare. It was so bad we couldn't eat it, when the waiter came and cleared the plates i did say the breakfast was poor and that's why we'd left it. It was obvious by its appearance, but no apology or offer to put right, such a waste of food for something so simple to cook and keep fresh. We didn't eat there the second day. Shame because the hotel has potential. let down by simple house keeping and basic cookery skills.

We had a 2 night stay there at the end of august , we paid for a double with sea view , after much multi-lingual confuddlement at reception we were shown to our room which was modern and quite presentable with a decent level of cleanliness. The next morning we went to the basement dining area for breakfast , there are plenty of cereals and fruit , a choice of bitter coffee & tea after which you get to sample the delights of the cooked breakfast (not). An eastern european robot serves from behind a warm plate , he has portion control off to a fine art , in fact i am sure he knows how many beans are on his spoon to within half a dozen , the beef sausage would be refused by many a hungry dog , there is no bacon , instead you get beef rashers , one nibble and i had to check the instep of my shoe was still there ! Needless to say we totally by-passed breakfast next morning , it's a pity because the location is great but the hotel is a big disappointment .

Room Tip: try a different hotel ! Failing that ask for a double rather than king size bed as our king size consisted of 2 mattresses butted up together
