“Wonderful B&B”
Reviewed November 20, 2006

I can't say enough about the wonderful job Steve and Debbie do with Bryn Derwen. My wife and I stayed there in mid-October of 2006 and had a great experience.

To start off, the website is excellent, providing not only availability and prices, but also pictures of each of the rooms that are available (each room is different, so you get to literally see your options). The rates were very reasonable, made even more so by Steve giving us the "mid-week reservation so third night is free" deal completely unsolicited by us. Even paying for the third night, it still would have been reasonable.

Once there, Bryn Derwen itself is pretty. It is a former Victorian mansion that has been a B&B in Llandudno for decades, most recently owned by Steve and Debbie. We stayed in Room #3 and it was large and had an adequately comfortable bed. The rooms were quite clean and very well-maintained, especially given the age of the house.

The location is perfect. It is a 2 minute walk to the tram station up to the Great Orme, and only a 5-10 minute walk to the promenade and beach of Llandudno. There were several great restaurants within a five minute walk as well. We HIGHLY recommend Number 1's Bistro (ate there two of three nights).

Steve and Debbie were wonderful, answering any questions and giving us helpful suggestions.

Also, if you have not been to northern Wales, you should definitely go. There are half a dozen large castles for touring within an hour drive, some of which (Conwy, Caernarfon, Beaumaris) are World Heritage Sites and breathtaking. The Great Orme is a massive headland/peninsula just west of Llandudno that provides good hiking and views of the Irish Sea. There's also a Bronze-Age copper mine that pretty cool to visit. Snowdonia National Park is just to the south and is ruggedly beautiful. Unfortunately, we went in October. While we got two nice days, that was a rarity for northern Wales in October. Would recommend summer to fully experience the area. Still, next to no crowds in the fall!

Bottom line, if you are going to northern Wales, stay at Bryn Derwen!!

Grand property with a very homely feeling, with a relaxed atmosphere, comfortable beds, furnishings and facilities of a very high standard. Steve and Debbie great hosts with nothing too much trouble, good local food individually prepared, even kippers or an omelette for breakfast ! I regularly travel all over Wales on business and for pleasure but have not yet found a better place to stay for comfort and value. Its quiet but also close to good pubs and restaurants and all the Llandudno amenities , including the unique Great Orme tram, victorian pier and promenade. Its also an ideal base for touring the North Wales coast and in land to the lakes and mountains. Go and see for yourselves you wont be disappointed

We enjoyed two nights at this b and b. Great location, very close to the tram ride up the great orme. We really enjoyed meals at the pub and fish and chip store at this location.

Our room was very comfortable and clean. A delicious breakfast was served and Steve and Debbie made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended for your stay in Llandudno!

Stayed for 3 nights after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor and cannot recommend this hotel enough - great location, spotlessly clean, lovely decorated rooms with great friendly service from Debbie and Steve. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in Llandudno.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in September whilst looking for a home in Llandudno. We were warmly welcomed by Debbie and offered tea and biscuits in the most attractive garden in the glorious sunshine. Steve joined us for a time and was a mine of valuable information. The room we had was spotlessly clean and had hospitality tray with really nice biscuits, tea, coffee, chocolate and mineral water. My husband said the cooked breakfast was the best he had ever tasted, and we have eaten all over the world, so that is a real compliment!

I am very fussy and can say that this hotel met my exacting standards in terms of cleanliness, quality of accommodation and food and likeability and efficiency of the owners, Debbie and Steve. Highly recommended!

First visited the Hotel in 2005 and have used it on two more occasions since. It is a well maintained hotel with a very friendly manager and manageress. You are made to feel very welcome, which is a great start to any holiday. Situated centrally to both West and East beach and is in walking distance to the center of town. Will definately use it again.
