We came here as a treat for my daughter's 13th Birthday. We had never been before and had only seen it when travelling over head on the cable cars in the summer. It cost £5 each for two goes on the toboggan and my partner and children loved it!! We did ask about tubing but were told that that would cost another £10 each so I'm intrigued that there appears to be some kind of offer on that we weren't told about! - but not to worry - anyway, they had so much fun on the Saturday that we went back on the Sunday but it was raining lightly and we were told that the toboggan wasn't running that day.
The place seems in need of some TLC and to be fair it did look like some renovation work was in progress and may be completed by the Summer Months. We liked the fact that it was cold when we went and the Alpine Lodge still had the Christmas tree up, so we felt like we could have been abroad somewhere ( with a little imagination, of which we have loads!).
Just a tip about the food we ordered a Chip Muffin and have to say that it was massive - there was enough there for two adults to share!!!
Everyone that we saw there during our visit, looked to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.
As far as the toboggan is concerned, you get on it and it mechanically takes you up the hill, whilst it's doing that you can just sit and admire the scenery. Then, you have a pull brake so you have control over how quickly or slowly you make the windy descent. It doesn't come down at any great speed and my ten year old son was quite concerned but gave it his best shot and when he watched the video back, with us laughing at how slow it was going, he said that to him he actually felt that he was going faster than he was!
Would definitely recommend as a good place to do something different with the kids, and the fact that it is outdoors, makes it even better!
