Had a meal in the Jasmine House at the end of May, it was very poor quality, I hadn't eaten Chinese food this poor since the 1970's. Everything was covered in a thick slimy tasteless sauce and appeared to have been boiled for ages instead of quickly stir fried.

This is a very very average chinese restaurant. Nicely decorated, but I was SO disappointed with the food. The curry sauce was obviously made up from powder and then the chicken tossed in last minute, no flavour at all. The sizzling fillet steak in pepper sauce had a really odd, almost slimy, texture. It was very unpleasant. The chicken in black bean sauce was ok, the sauce was nice. Chicken fried rice was just a plate of luminous yellow rice with a small handful of chopped chicken pieces thrown on top. The chicken in the sauces still had it's skin on. The impression I had was of the very cheapest ingredients purchased from a wholesale store and mixed with boiling water. It certainly didn't feel as though the meals were 'cooked' on the premised. Added to this was the service, not a smile, not even eye contact so you had no idea if your request for a top up of your drink was heard or not. And to top that off, the milk given to us with the coffee was on the turn, with little white floaty bits. The meal was relatively expensive - compared to the nearby EAST Chinese restaurant which is lovely, the visit to Jasmine House felt a little like throwing good money away. My recommendation, head for the EAST every time if you want a good Chinese meal.

would have liked to give this restaurant a 3.5 stars.
went in on a Sunday bank holiday evening and was told that there was a table for 5 but only for 45 minutes. we told them that we can do it if they can serve us quickly.
As promised, got our food in time and had enough time to munch through the meal even with a drink. (no starters though).
I cant fault them, but would've preferred a bit more of a warm service, but yes, they very efficient and it was a full house.
This is the second time we have been here, previously 4 years ago. This time we were walking down the main high street with friends and remembered this place, so went in to try how much they have changed, and as expected we got a pretty decent service and good food.

The place was busy and they did fit us in next to a pile of chairs.
the food was ok nothing special but service was poor, they missed out on extra money due to not completing drinks orders they had taken twice!!
