having read some of the not so complimentary reviews of the East Beach i was very openminded regard my forthcoming stay but i worried over nothing. reception were only to happy to help with any assistance and our room was pleasant with a great seaview. having seen this hotel many times from the outside you do wonder what is behind the doors but there is no need to worry. very popular with coach parties and our more elderly people but very reasonably priced and would recomend. thank you East Beach and see you again in the future.

Room Tip: try to get a room with a seaview if possible as opposed to the rear of the hotel.

Stayed Saturday 17th November for 1 night. The hotel was very tired, we had a family room and the best part was the sea view. Had problems finding the bathroom, which looked like it was inside the wardrobe, and the size of it ! Took our small dog with us, so choose a hotel with bar facilites, so we would be able to check on her. No such luck bar closed due to board game convention, say no more. On check out I informed them this we were not informed of this, fell on deaf ears. The breakfast was good, but the staff did not seem to understand us. Will not return.

The owner is not fit to run a bath, she is rude and not what you would expect from someone who is in hospitality. I questioned why we had no hot water? 2 hours of no response just me going down 2 floors to reception as there were no phones?
Fobbed off with a string of lies that maintenance were dealing with it, the part would be fitted the next day etc. ( read similar reviews ref lack of water) not any tepid water just 2 taps of cold water!
No tv channels working properly a tv in the bathroom which was broken, jacuzzi stunk of stagnant water and the bubbles did not work not that it could be used due to water!
The staff were scruffy the guy in reception had food stains on a washed out black shirt the owner at 7 in the evening looked like she had got dressed in a hurry no make up and hair everywhere! The husband who looked like a urchin swore at us and told me if I didn't like it to p*** off! Which I did do, this establishment has been given a revamp of sorts but lacks management or house keeping. In a recession surely good customer care and manners are a must to continue to operate?
Shocking, disgusting modelled on faulty towers! Laughable but shocking dump which should be shut down!
I would hate to see the kitchens if this is what is visible to paying customers!
I regularly stay in hotels and over the years have stayed in the some of best and some which have been basic but this DUMP is the worst by far, save your money regardless of deals etc. We moved 50m up the road to be made to feel welcomed and surprisingly everything is working including hot water!.

We booked the suite with double jacuzzi bath, for my husbands birthday. On arrival the 'lad' on reception told us where our room was-number 28. Initially we were pleased with the room, double bay windows facing the sea and towards the pier, the balcony advertised wasn't private, you could in fact, walk around the entire floor, and choosing to do so right past other private room, peering in???!
We then had a look at our Jacuzzi bathroom- It looked good, a bit of a drainy smell-But a modern double Jacuzzi facing a waterproof bathroom TV sunk into the wall. On closer inspection, We noticed a laminated sign apologising that the bubbles did not work on the Jacuzzi, as this has been broken by a previous guest and they were awaiting a part. We returned to reception to enquire if we would be able to move to an alternative Jacuzzi suite, as this was the reason we upgraded. We were fobbed off by the reception lad, and the hotel manager getting all sorts of excuses, as to how they do not advertise Jacuzzi rooms any more, due to them in the bane of her life? I pointed out that their website clearly still advertises this and showed them the review on my phone. I was then given an excuse that the website designer had 'buggered off' (the owners words) to America so they couldn't do anything about it. We accepted this, as we were told we could still use the bath just without the bubbles.
After a stroll along the seafront we returned to get ready for our evening and attempted to run the bath-There was no hot water?! After three conversations with reception my husband was advised they were getting a plumber in. I went down and spoke to the reception and the owner and was told it would not be fixed as the plumber couldn't get the part till 8am the following morning- But we could walk down the corridor and use another shower, or move to a basic twin room at the back of the hotel. Not our idea of how we wanted to spend a rare night away without our children?!
After discussions with the staff -some workman piped up -"Well if you don't like it why don't you both "P*** off". My husband asked who he was and was told by the owner "That's my husband" (!!!!!) charming.
Needless to say, that's exactly what we did.
These people do not deserve to have a business. Rude, scruffy, abusive, aggressive. SHUT IT DOWN HOTEL INSPECTOR. You can put all the mod-cons in somewhere, but being run by a team of people with no manners -will never improve with customer experience. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE WEBSITE.

After reading some of the reviews on the East Beach i was at the point of not even wanting to waste the petrol to drive there, buit i'm glad we did. The negative reviews are obviously from people with excessively high expectations. It's not a spanking new and chrome shiney hotel, but it's an OLD victorian Hotel! What do you expect?? It was warm, clean, cosy with a fabulous view (room 14) of the sea and pier and the breakfast was great. We watched from our room the starlings coming to roost in massive swarms around the pier as the sun set against a pink sky with a bottle of wine in our bay window. Perfect night away. The room was tiny, but who who cares??
