We really enjoyed our stay at the Guesthouse East, our room was spacious, well equipped and very clean. Sarah and Carl made us feel very welcome and the Guethouse is perfectly located for the seafront, cafes, restaurants etc. We look forward to saying again and definitely recommend it.

We stayed here for three days over Christmas and could not fault the service from Sarah and Carl. We opted for the full English breakfast on Christmas morning and was not disappointed.
The location is central and in walking distance to most places so was ideal for a relaxing Christmas break.

Hi Paul
Lovely to hear to you had a great Christmas break here and enjoyed the Full English - just the sort of thing to set you up for a day of celebration. Or put you in the mood for relaxation and a day watching Christmas box sets of DVDs in your room!
Thank you so much for the review.

We stayed in The Guesthouse East for eleven nights. The rooms are self catering with a well equipped kitchen, although you can have a cooked breakfast in the dinning room if you don`t fancy cooking it yourself.
The rooms are large with plenty of space to spread out. The beds are comfortable with decent pillows which is not always the case with most hotels, so i didn't have to use my rolled up coat as a pillow for once.
Karl and Sarah who own the Guesthouse are helpful and friendly and only to happy to help.
Its only hundred metres from the seafront so my wife and i had some lovely walks along the promenade.
After three or four days staying at the Guesthouse at the end of the day my wife would say, shall we go home now, meaning the hotel, it had that feeling.
So we can highly recommend The Guesthouse and we will definitely stay there the next time we go to Eastbourne.

Thanks John for your thorough and warm review.
It's really gratifying to hear that it felt like home here for you - when you're based abroad as you are trips back to Blighty must feel precious so I'm chuffed that your 11 days felt very comfortable.
Sad as it might sound, Sarah and I have long discussed pillows and the best way forward - we've even pondered a pillow menu, but in the end settled on having top quality pillows, with a choice of large and small in your bedroom - and hearing your feedback now makes all that process worthwhile :)
See you both again I hope
Carl

My sister booked us in on a deal where you stayed for 3 nights and only paid for 2. It was so good that my wife and I stayed an extra night. So what makes this place so good?
1/ As aforementioned, stay 3 nights, pay for 2. Out of season but still a good deal
2/ excellent location, close to the seafront and shops.
3/ Child friendly. Most places will supply you with a portable cot. For our 5 month old son we got a portable cot, a bottle sterilizer, a kids bath, even a bumbo! So refreshing to find a place where children are catered for
4/ Our room had a good size bathroom and a small, but fully equipped kitchen as well as the main bedroom.
5/ Carl and Sarah are excellent hosts - nothing is too much trouble and they can provide good insights into where to go in Eastbourne.
2 minor niggles - we had a wardrobe door which wouldn't stay closed and the bathroom blind could be a little wider in places. But these are minor and C&S welcome any points where things can be improved.
The Guesthouse East has won awards and received much praise from previous visitors. I can understand why as I would have no hesitation recommending this place and going there in future.

Thank you for your comments, feedback and overall recommendation.
We've become experts on child- and baby-friendly accommodation by default after our own travel experiences with our little ones. I think it helps to understand what is genuinely useful in reality rather than fluffy promises on a website.
We've tried to optimise the space available within the rooms - and people do seem to love the kitchens that each suite comes with for extra flexibility and the freedom they provide.
We looked long and hard at Eastbourne before we bought here - as we knew that getting the location spot on is essential so I'm really pleased it worked for you too.
And thanks for the feedback on the couple of niggles - it helps us keep on top of things and to improve for our next guests.
Hope to see you again
Carl

Stayed for 2 nights at Guesthouse East over a December weekend. Located a few metres from the seafront.

Greeted with a friendly welcome from Carl who had a map with recommendations ready for us, showed us to our room on the first floor.
Room 2 was set up as a large twin with sofa and well furnished. Freeview TV also has a DVD player. Ironing board and iron, hairdryer, extra heating appliances.

Good sized bathroom, very clean, fluffy towels and full range of toiletries. Plus a separate kitchen with small table. 4 ring hob, fridge, microwave, sink and all the utensils you could possibly want.

Even though we had our own kitchen we did treat ourselves to Carl and Sarah's full English breakfast on the second day and it was well worth it. Great quality (especially the coffee) and excellent value.

Carl and Sarah are wonderful hosts. Made us feel extremely welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. All guesthouse owners should aim to hit their standards.

I normally stay in hotels for my weekend breaks away. I would never stay in another hotel if every town had its own Guesthouse East. Stay here and be reminded why Britain has such a strong tradition for good B&Bs.

What a lovely Guesthouse! My mum and I have been to Eastbourne numerous times for an event at the Devonshire Theatre Complex and we really wish we'd known about this place before now. It's just brilliant.
We were in 'suite 2' and the room was lovely, modern, clean and spacious. The kitchen was well appointed and perfect for making a cuppa, a simple breakfast and a snacks lunch. I don't think I would want to cook a full meal in it, as it would be a squash, but we didn't want it for that, so it was fine!
Carl and Sarah (and the children) are the perfect hosts and were so helpful and accommodating of our random requests and so so welcoming.
I would definitely recommend the Guesthouse East to friends!

Hi Naomi
Thank you so much for the lovely review!
Great to hear it worked for you here at The Guesthouse East for you and your mum - we've tried to create enough space for relaxation and the kitchens hopefully provide that and freedom as well.
Hope to see you both again next year.

Carl & Sarah are great hosts and made myself and my partner feel very welcome. Sarah gave us a map and highlighted places to eat which was very helpful. The room was very clean, tastefully decorated, furnished and with a great kingsize bed ! We also liked the fact that the rooms had a separate kitchen which gives you the option of eating in if you so wish. The location was very good too with only a short walk to the centre of town and beach. We will definately think about coming back again sometime in the future !

Thanks Ash for such a thoughtful response.
It's always rewarding to hear that out guests have enjoyed their stay - and even better when we get to see them again to hear what's been happening in the interim so I do hope you return.
We're trying a local gastropub for the first tonight so maybe we'll be able to recommend another gem for you :)
