“A Little Gem”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

What a delight to find the reviews so true, a perfect tea shop, with relaxing, pleasant surroundings. My husband and I thought we would try it out after reading the reviews, we were not disappointed. If you like home made scones and cakes it’s the absolutely perfect place to lunch. We opted for homemade cheese scones for two, served beautifully with little pots of separate butter, grated cheese and homemade onion relish, with a large pot of tea, which served us several cups each. We noticed that they also do a sweet scone option for two, served with butter, jam, and clotted cream for those who have a sweet tooth. I can’t wait to go again and try the Victoria Sandwich, which also looked absolutely scrummy and very traditional. The two ladies who do the baking and work there, were very friendly, we felt we’d found a little gem.

Another lovely lunchtime treat here. Pot of tea and huge slice of Lemon Cake. Moist beyond belief.
Nice atmosphere for lunch time break and chat with friends.
Small and friendly.

“not to be missed”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

Probably the best food I have had in a tea room ever! It was so good I kept going back. It is slightly off the beaten track although close to the railway station. Relaxing atmosphere. Nice rustic decor. Cheese scones historic! Also delicious quiches. Everything home made. Huge portions. Friendly, welcoming and efficient service. Can't wait for my next visit to Eastbourne.

“Great local tea shop!”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

My husband took me here for elevenses after visting earlier in the month and raving about it. The decor is great, and we felt very welcome.

Cheese scones for me, straight out of the oven, and toast and jam for him. Fresh, home-baked loveliness. It's a tea shop with other stuff too, stationery and books etc.

Nice place to just sit and enjoy your tea, and perhaps tap your foot to the playful jazz. Is that what it is?

“Best scones, excellent for lunch and afternoon tea”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

The scones are always freshly baked, lots of freshly made cakes, delicious quiche freshly made daily and available for takeaway if you can't stop. Old fashioned atmosphere and service. Elizabeth and Jeff always make you welcome if you want a chat or just peace with a cup of tea.
