We stayed here in September and returned again after Xmas for my birthday. It is definitely a place to return to many times as the house is lovely and it does not disappoint. Good bed, warm, comfortable, gastro pub across the road and others nearby, what more would you want? I am sure we will make a 3rd visit.

We booked in for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and had a wonderful stay. The whole house was decked in tasteful and thoughtfully positioned seasonal decorations which added to the feeling that we were home from home. We stayed in the four poster bedroom upstairs, with magnificent old tree outside and long view of the countryside. Everything was comfortable and easy and despite the fact that it was Christmas we could not have felt more welcome. Like others we did the one minute stroll across the road to The Lamb Inn for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. This part of the world has lots of interesting features including Herstmonceux near by, so definitely a good place to spend some time. Our thanks to Rowena for giving us such a warm welcome to this beautiful house.

I booked a room here at the last minute as my travelling circumstances had changed and what a good choice I made! This B & B is a class apart. Although I had booked a de luxe room I was put in a premier room (5) a simply gorgeous room with a four poster whose comfort matched its looks. Firm and soft pillows, proper coffee, tea, bottled water and even a Mohair Teddy to cuddle if you are on your own as I was. Flat screen, free wifi plus a superb bathroom with up market toiletries, fluffly bathrobe, huge towels made me reluctant to leave my room.

the guest sitting room/breakfast room was full of squashy sofas in which to sink and read up to date magazines.

The breakfast was not only beautifully presented but delicious.

I really cannot overemphasise the outstanding nature of this establishment. I will have to find an excuse to return.

The local pub was also excellent.

If you want to know how to run a first-class country guesthouse, book into Wartling Place for a night - or two. An elegant, and elegantly furnished, country house in an out-of-the way Sussex village to which we shall most definitely return. It's the details that count, and this place gets them all right.

A warm welcome from Rowena, a spacious. elegantly furnished room at the front of the house with a view of the church, (no traffic noise - there isn't any!) a supremely comfortable super- kingsized bed and a good-sized bathroom with a detachable shower over the bath. Egyptian cotton sheets, luxurious towelling robes, a cafetiere and teapot (with excellent tea and coffee) and a jug of milk in the fridge on the landing if you prefer that to UHT. The fridge also contains wine (£10 a bottle) beer (£2) and water (free.)

Our leisurely breakfast, complete with Sunday papers, was served in a sunny and beautiful room downstairs, starting with fresh fruit. The cooked breakfast was pronounced the best she'd had by my wife ( a stern critic) and I entirely agreed. The room doubles as a guest sitting room, (it's huge - loads of room) with an honesty bar, and there's a large selection of DVDs in the hall.

We had dinner at the Lamb Inn across the road - see separate entry. Rowena had booked us a table, which was just as well, as it was full, even on a rainy November night.

Room Tip: Frankly, they all look pretty good, but we'll try the four-poster next time.

Had a wonderful stay at this delightful Guesthouse. The rooms were immaculate and charming. The Breakfast was over-rated and perhaps some hired help wouldn'y go amiss, but otherwise a nice stay, The gardens were lovely and we enjoyed playing with the dog as well as looking at the nice views. We also had a great meal at the Lamb opposite. it is highly recommended as so close to the guesthouse. Inside the guesthouse was lovely furniture, almost like a throw back in time and being in a friends house

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are great

We drove down from London on a Friday (not to be advised!) but it was definitely worth the long journey. The hotel is stunning and in equally gorgeous grounds.

Rowena was very welcoming and had excellent local knowledge and general banter. The four poster room was gorgeous, everything was very plush and incredibly clean.

The lambs inn across the road has new owners...very welcoming if a bit shambolic! On recommendation we went to the Sundial restaurant for dinner on our second night which was fantastic.

All in all we had a wonderful stay here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to our friends and also come back ourselves.

I knew we had made the right decision about this lovely b&b from the moment Rowena greeted us.

Its such a comfortable, homely and interesting place and Rowena's warm personality makes it perfect.

The moment we walked in Rowena was very accommodating, she even upgraded us from the off to a lovely 4 poster bed, one of the largest/romantic rooms available (at no extra cost)

The room was amazing and very spacious with lots of character. We went to the pub opposite, which is very nice, food is very good but it took a while to come out (called the Lamb Inn) although I am led to believe that the chef is new to the pub - I would definitely go again, as the atmosphere was very nice - I believe the pub is owned by TV's Antique Expert James Braxton and his family - They are a lovely bunch.

I highly recommend the Wartling Place Country House for a relaxing get away and agree with all of the other positive comments on here!

Room Tip: 4 Poster bed was PERFECT!
