There's a little place, on the pier at Eastbourne. A place, where, in a way time has stopped.
You are transported back in time, to the Victorian era, I guess. A place where etiquette befits.
The place has a calming/ tranquil effect.
This is NOT a "fast-food" place.
It's a Victorian Tea Room!! Scones, with clotted cream & jam. Toasted tea-cakes with real butter. Cakes, served as wedges.Sandwiches made to order, the list goes on.
The tea is served in china tea-pots, you have to use a tea-strainer. The sugar is in "mis-fit" lumps, brown or white. There's table-clothes. the chairs are comfy.
The staff are friendly, The portions large, scones, the size of a fist. Tea-cakes, like dinner plates. Real butter, real tea & real service.
So, theres this little tea-room on the pier at Eastbourne, that is great.

This is well worth a visit for traditional afternoon tea, or just tea made the traditional way (no teabags) or coffee, and beautifully baked gateaux. White tablecloths and excellent service - takes you back to how it should be done!

Thoroughly enjoyed a Sussex Tea (tea, scone, jam and cream), particularly the tea made with proper tea leaves not tea bags.

Rain or shine, it doesn't get any better - take a seat by a window in the Victorian Tea Rooms half way down Eastbourne Pier, view the lovely blue/green sea, pebble beach & coastline as you settle yourself down to eating the largest ever fresh, srummy scone - ours were warm!! Scones came with individual pots of jam & clotted cream, packs of butter & pots of tea (loose leaf no less!). There are a variety of food & drink options, tea cakes / sandwiches / cakes / cold and hot drinks. All served at a pocket pleasing price. Very impressed that the tables were cleared as customers left and that tables were 'properly' wiped down with a chemical cleaner and not just a damp cloth!! Suitable for all - no excuses for walking by without giving it a try!
No customer toilets seen but there are public toilets near front of the pier. No tables outside of the building when we visited. Sorry but we dont know if they do a takeaway or reservation service or the opening times :- /

Great location on the pier, bright and airy with panoramic views. Had the " Sussex Tea " only £3.75. Huge scone, clotted cream and jam, pot of tea ( or coffee ). Have paid a lot more elsewhere in a lesser location. When visiting Eastbourne leave time ( and space ) for tea !
