Owner description: The Beachy Head in Eastbourne is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Very cold day, but a great walk all the same. Would be amazing in the summer months. A great pub at the top for a half way pint.

We live an hour's drive from here and have visited at least 6 times a year over the past 20. This spot offers different things at different times of year. In winter it offers 360 degree panoramic views whilst on a bracing walk. The stretch between the Beachy Head hotel and Eastbourne is great for kite flying and popular with para gliders. In summer you can enjoy the same views in the warm sunshine and have a relaxing picnic - even walking down to secluded beaches for a paddle A great idea during the free 4 day air show in August. It Is famous as a suicide spot but please don't let that put you off. We have been taking our son for walks there since he was 3yrs old. The walkways are very wide and you can keep well away from the cliff edges and still let little ones run free. Great spot for sunsets but,if you are alone, don't be surprised if you are approached by the local chaplain checking you are ok!

If you are in the Eastbourne area it would be a tragedy to miss out on this view. There are charges for parking unless you are customers of The Beachy Head Hotel or take the bus.

This lovely spot just outside Eastbourne is great for a picnic in the summer. on a clear day im certain you can see France, but havent seen it yet. Its quite eerie too so careful not to go too near the edge!!

There is something quite moving, spiritual, about this place. It is also very bracing on a windy day - and therefore amusing to kick a piece of litter or a twig and watch it fly miles through the air!!

Clearly it is a well-known suicide spot so don't be surprised by the chaplaincy car patrolling, or the Samaritans signs by phone boxes. But this place is so much more than the news stories so bring a picnic, your walking boots and be sure to stop off at the quaint gift shop. There is a good little selection of items and a fun, interactive history section.

If you drive up here from Eastbourne, make an effort not the drive back the same way; instead follow the long route round so you go past Birling Gap and East Dean - very pretty indeed.
