stayed here after doing the very tough eastbourne beachy head marathon so really appreciated a great nights sleep which i got , inside the hotel was excellent , very impressive and has kept some of its victorain charm but looks quite posh so wonderful to stay here , room was large bath /shower top class and as said my body needed the rest and i slept like a log :) , breakfast was served in the dining room very large and spaciuos , very smart waitresses and super fast service but we wasnt rushed in any way , and breakfast was great with lovely cuppa tea and choice of starters and choice of hot breakfasts inc the full english and toast , certainly would not hesitate to book here again without looking fopr alternative hotels , also situated 100 yards away from pier,, right opposite it almost , and an abundance of restaurants close by and shops

Room Tip: didnt have sea view but imagine be complete if did

My wife and I and our son and daughter in law (with 1 year old) stayed here for one night in two rooms. The accommodation was fine, probably good three star but that's not really an appropriate way to rate this hotel. I loved it not for the beds, rooms, waiter served breakfast, or location but for the real English history, character and tradition that oozes from the pores of the place and the surrounding seaside. The lounges, dining room, barman and dining staff all seem to be lifted from another era, somewhere between 1895 and 1960 and the really good thing was that everything is in pristine condition. I was just waiting for Sir Cliff to step from behind a red velvet curtain and start singing the song that inspired my title.

Over all staff were good, only complaint was that in a 4 night stay with Alfa service at dinner could have been better,we had 3 different waiters and 2 night they forgot about our desert and we sat long after the sitting after us had left.Don't get the syrup sponge,I sent mine back and the second one was no better I left it,it was horrible(cold and more like pastry than sponge and not much syrup)I was asked if I would like something else but it was too late for me by this time 8pm,we had been in at 6.45.We paid extra for a sea view and were not dissappointed large twin room with lovely view of the pier.Beds comfortable and firm which we like.Beachy Head well worth the ride wonderful views.I would not go back to Eastbourne as not a lot to do,we intended to go in the summer but went to Torquay instead so pleased we did as the town has alot more to offer, and a beautiful harbour right outside the Regina hotel. As for the manager we only saw him when he welcomed us on our arrival unlike the Torquay manager who was there every day and a hands on man.

Room Tip: sea view 4th floor corner room

Beautiful, elegant old hotel: our room was lovely as we had paid extra for our sea view. Food well-cooked, plentiful and efficiently served by dining room staff who were very pleasant, whether they served our table or not. Menu same as in all Leisureplex hotels. Beds hard and uncomfortable. We had made a 'special request' with our booking but this was ignored with no apology - muttered excuse from dismissive, bordering on rude, assistant manager being 'we're fully-booked' - they weren't!! His favourite phrase, heard several times as we also witnessed rudeness to other more elderly guests, was 'I TOLD you'. Don't stay here if you expect reception service with a smile!!

Room Tip: Pay extra for sea view

My first experience of an apha travel holiday stayed for 4 nights right from we arrived recieved a lovely welcome from sian the manager who came onto our coach right up to the check everything went so smoothly the staff were so organized , given the key to my room which was on the first floor the view wasnt the greatest but the pier and sea were across the road so didnt matter .The room was spacious with plenty of storage space for my things the bathroom was lovely had a lovely big shower as a bonus, the carpet needs a clean but thats all i can really say about the room for a two star hotel its fine stayed in worse higher rated hotels than this .We all had an allocated table no and time for dinner and breakfast the breakfast was always nice and the evening meals were great too the staff were amazing rushing around serving you so quick and they all had a smile and time to chat to me despite being so busy there was a lovely ballroom and entertainment every night not my cup of tea as i wasnt in the age bracket for that sort of music its aimed at the oaps i did make some lovely friends during my stay had such a laugh with them i really hope to come back and visit the queens again in the future .

Room Tip: worth paying for a room with a seaview

Just come back from a 5day, 4night stay at the Queens Hotel in Eastbourne organised by Alfa Travel. The location is excellent - right on the seafront and opposite the pier. This is where the little promenade train starts as does the service bus to Brighton and the sightseeing bus to Beachy Head. This is also the beginning of the famous gardens. It would be difficult to find a better location. The external appearance is impressive and there is nothing between the hotel and the sea. The main "state" rooms of concert area, lounge and restaurant have high ceilings, are lavishly draped (curtained), are clean and airy and are tastefully decorated. One can imagine the extremely wealthy staying here in the 19 century. The bedrooms were large in the extreme, not like some others which I have attended, containing loads of cupboards and drawers and which have on-suites the size of which need to be seen to be appreciated. We were on the fifth floor and the hotel seemed to be full and yet we didn't have to wait for more than a few seconds for a very efficient lift. The meals were excellent with plenty of choice. Even the vegetarian option had about four variants -normally unheard of. Portion size was more than adequate and I would say was generous. The staff were all extremely polite, friendly and accommodating. We were full board but B&B is available at £34 per person per night - cheaper than our last visit to Coldingham. Nothing is ever perfect but to criticise would be nit-picking and the Queens certainly don't deserve that. Well done.

Room Tip: We had a rear room and it was OK but you might like to consider one with a sea view - its just a tho...
