“great value for money”
Reviewed February 25, 2012

Just returned from a great stay at the Arundel Hotel. We travlled with Just Go on a 5 day break for £109 p.p , great value for money. As other peple have reviewed, the hotel is in need of a bit of modernisation, but the hospitality from George, his wife Elani, and daughters 1, 2 and 3 and James could not have been better. If you have any problems just ask them and they will sort it for you. The food is all home cooked and plenty of it !! It has a comfortable bar and lounge and we had entertainment on two of our four night stay ( the other two nights we organised a game of bingo, which went well, well done carol!! )
It is idealy situated, a short walk to the sea front, theatre, pubs and shops and
all in all we had a great time, and we will definetely be returning to the arundel again

Hi, my wife and I have just spent a very enjoyable weekend down in Eastbourne (our first time at the resort), we travelled down by coach organised by the Just Go travel company, staying at the Arundel hotel.
The hotel, like a lot of hotels in England is a bit dated but the service from the staff was excellent. The food was par excellence, all home cooked (and lots of it) by the owner and his wife, served piping hot at your table. the restaurant had just had all the walls replastered so the decor was basic.
The towels were changed daily, rooms tidied, and on the whole the hotel was warm and comfortable. The owners provided entertainment on two of our four nights in a very comfortable bar/lounge.
Eastbourne itself was the typical English resort with long prominades very good pier with plenty of things going on even in the winter.
The weekend overall was very good value for money, with two excursions to other resorts on the south coast. The holiday was very well oranised by the tour company, Just Go.com, and represents excellent value for the money.

Some furniture needs replaceing and the bar prices are a bit dear, thats it for the bad bit. Now the good bit, We were all made very welcome the moment we arrived, the food was more than we could eat with plenty to choose from and was home made.We had entertainment in the bar room every night. The staff were all friendly and we would glady go back again.

We travelled with a coach company and on our arrival we were welcomed by George, the friendly owner, who told us about the hotel and facilities then got us quickly sorted to our rooms. Our room was large and had ample storage for our clothes etc. The condiment tray was stocked so we could have a cup of tea as soon as we settled. The room was in need of some redecoration with a couple of areas where the wallpaper was peeling and where a wall lamp had been moved. However, the over-bed wall lights - one with a shade and one without - were too low and I feared a nocturnal accident should I get up quickly so I removed the bulb. The old crt type portable tv was only capable of three and a half channels - 1,2,3 and a black and white snowy 4. A remote control was missing so we couldn't even dabble with the tuning to see if that helped. Apparently, we were better off than some others who only had two channels! The bathroom needed a bit more TLC and a fair amount of bleach to remove the mould from the sealant around the edge of the bath. The sink was also loose on the wall, not too much but you wouldn't want to lean on it. Also, large gaps were around the toilet waste pipe as it entered the wall. The shower was an over-bath tap-mixer type and was fine once you got the hot and cold right. The shaving mirror light wasn't working which was a minor irritation. That's the bad over with. The beds were spotlessly clean and comfortable and fresh clean towels were provided every day, left on the beds ready for our use. The meal room was in the basement but this didn't bother us as there was a lift if we needed it.The food at the Arundel is delicious, hot and well-cooked. Breakfast were cereals or porridge, full English fry-up and toast and marmalade/jam (more if you needed it!). Evening meals were three courses of fruit juice, soup or other starter, delicious main course (George's steak pie is totally recommended) and ice cream, traditional pudding or cheese and biscuits followed by coffee. The entertainment on the two nights was excellent - singer guitarists a cut above the usual standard we felt. The small bar was reasonably stocked but ran out of a certain drink if it was popular. However, the prices were reasonable and they always had what we wanted. Overall, a bit of a mixed bag. What could be a really excellent hotel was let down by the standard of our rooms. This was what let it down as,basically, they only needed a bit of tidying up. Overall, then, we enjoyed our stay at the Arundel and in the context of what it cost with the coach holiday company we can't complain. The friendliness of the owners combined with the positive points I've mentioned means we wouldn't hesitate to stay again. As long as you don't expect five star standards you won't be disappointed.

The Arundel Hotel in Eastbourne is one off the friendliest hotels we have been to in the U.K..George and his Wife Eleni make you most welcome . The hotel is only 5 to 10 minute stroll into the centre or the beach and is in close proximity for Theatre lovers which put on some worthwhile shows. If you are a lover off food and relaxation then this hotel is for you. Overall this hotel has something for everyone and we will be back when we are able to. The staff in the hotel are superb and can't be faulted and if you have a problem just ask George.

My stay at the Arundel hmmmm how do i begin. It was a very tired old hotel. The hotel looked ok from the outside then in we go the old smell, the wall paper hanging off,All the rooms i went in needed decorating. My bathroom shower was worked off the taps so it was never a safe tempreture. I wondered how elderly guests had a shower as you had to get into the bath no handrails. If you chose to have a bath again no rails to help you out of the bath. The toilet had a mind of its own and flushed as and when. Te food now was lots of stodgy something to stick to your ribs. People kept asking for smaller portions. My t.v in the room was 4 stations and something you would watch in a caravan small. I never received clean towels but i did ask for a change. My bed linen i had when i got married 40 years ago the nylon bedspread. My curtains all wripped tatty chance if they closed. I will say though the hotel carpet was lovely maroon colour thick pile. Perhaps one day soon 60 minute make over might go there and bring this tired old hotel up to standard.

Room Tip: chance your arm
