“A happy accident!”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

We were booked in at the Travelodge next door, but on arrival they had overbooked, and so took us next door to The Riviera where we were given a double room with sea-view and breakfast included.
The room was large & clean, with three large windows overlooking the seafront, 32" flatscreen, and a clean spacious basic bathroom with shower & bath.
The bed was 2 singles joined together as a large double; firm and fine.
The weather outside was wicked... well it was halloween! Winds blowing a hooley and horizontal rain... but the room was toasty and we slept well!
Breakfast was great, the full english was cooked to perfection and staff were very pleasant and helpful.

A lovely clean friendly family run hotel, opposite the seafront, 3 minutes from the pier. We will definitely return... in fact... we were so impressed... we have just booked to stay tonight! ha!

All the best for the future!

Room Tip: Seaview double, eg: room 130

Stayed at the hotel for two nights in September. The hotel is in a good location a short walk from the pier. Rooms are basic but clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. Plenty of choice for breakfast and was of a very good quality. Would stay again.

The rooms were very basic (think halls of residence) and not particularly spacious but the bed was comfortable and I had a excellent nights sleep. This hotel is very much aimed towards hen and stag parties (you have to pay as soon as you arrive due to the poor behaviour of past guests!).

Breakfast in the moring was good value too - you got tea/coffee and juice and a cooked breakfast, the portions were a good size. A night's stay cost us £72 which included brekkie.

The hotel itself is situated on the seafront which is nice (although the view out of our window was of a brick wall - not so nice) but the problem is that it doesn't have a car park. There is plenty of parking in Eastbourne but if you can't park outside the hotel, you may have a fairly long walk. Also a lot of the parking is pay and display. The hotel can provide a parking permit but you are only allowed park in certain bays ( not the pay and display bays just outside the hotel).

If I was going out partying, I would stay at this hotel again - I wouldn't want to spend any more time in the room than I had to - it is just a good place to rest your head. I wouldn't stay here for a romantic break or if I was with family.

The hotel was very nice. The rooms are very clean and have everything you need to stay. The interior of the hotel is very interesting. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was very attentive. All in hotel is adapted for a good rest.

Stayed for 2 nights in September 2012 for 23rd wedding anniversary. Booked the room late and were put in a very small double room (room 138) at the back of the hotel. Functional and clean but cramped and main road to sea front very noisy. Asked if we could pay for an upgrade but hotel was full so no rooms available. Managed to move rooms for second night and got a great large room with a seaview (£10 extra), but well worth the extra (room 130). Both rooms came with flat screen TV's with freeview. First room, the TV positioning could have been better as a little difficult to see from the l/h side of bed but in the in the second room (which had a 32" flatscreen) viewing angles were perfect.

First room had a standard 4ft 6 bed but second room had a huge 6 feet variety. All rooms have a mini bar fridge which isn't stocked (due to thefts), but can be used to chill your own wine/beer. Full English breakfast is good and service for breakfast was fast and friendly. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Parking a little challenging on our first night (sunny September Saturday). For £1 the hotel give you a day permit to park in residents parking, the trouble is resident's parking is FULL of residents. After 20 minutes eventually found parking!! Late Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon was simpler, though on ALL occasions ended up in general FREE street parking so didn't use the 2 days of resident's permits we'd bought! NOT exclusive to this hotel though as most hotels in the area didn't have any parking.

Had we stayed in room 138 (small room) for both nights the review would have been less positive, however, the lovely sea view and the size of our second room made up for the first room's inadequacies!

Position of the hotel is good, 5 mins walk to the pier, 2 mins walk to the beach and about 10 mins to the town centre.

Room Tip: Pay the £5 per person for a sea view room as the road rooms at the back overlook is pretty noisy all...

The hotel was really excellent. spotlessly clean. The staff were Polish, very well dressed and excellent. The food was served at the table, not great portions but very good. The room we had was very nice and very clean. The only downside to this hotel was the manager/owner who was very unhelpful and quite rude. everything else i could'nt fault. The location was was spot on. The town, Beach and pier all were in ten mins walking distance.
