We had booked a 3 night week-end break but due to bad weather forcast, phoned and arrived the evening before. The reception staff were really helpfull and efficient.
The break was advertised as a party week-end and that's exactly what it was.The food and entertainment was really good, all staff were excellent, from the waitresses/waiters to bar staff all happy and eager to make it a very enjoyable stay. We all had a great time. For a budget weekend break you couldn't fault it, they even gave vouchers for 4 free drinks each.

Room Tip: The rooms are a little tied but clean and reasonably comfortable. We had an upgraded room, (still ti...

Thank you Norm888, that was a quick response. Great comments regarding your stay. You did the right thing last week by coming a day earlier. I have stated in previous responses that the weekend party breaks are just the ticket for a snowy January. Always good to read that the team took great care of you and this added to your holiday enjoyment.
Thanks once again

If you want gourmet cuisine and sophisticated entertainment then this is not the place for you but we had a great time on an extremely cheap weekend break with friends. The bedrooms are clean, comfortable, quiet and look as if they have been recently refurbished. The bathroom was rather dated and unusually down a flight of steps from the bedroom.

The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient.

The food is pretty dire and the front door of the hotel often blocked by smokers.

I would rather pay a little more and have a better standard of food but this would not stop me returning as apart of a group.

Thank you pullboroughperson for thaking the time to leave a review. Good to read you did enjoy your short break. Shame to read the comment regarding the food and the entertainment Please read the previous excellent reviews regarding the food and the entertainment. We have never described oursleves as being "fine dining" but what we do offer for the price represents excellent value for money and this does appear to be exactly what our customers want at this time of year The comment regarding paying a little more for food is interesting an it mybe one of our coast and country hotels would be better suited as they offer a more extensive menu with a wider choice. A warm welcome awaits you should you decide to return Thanks once again for leaving the review all points of view are greatly appreciated

Travelled with Shearings by coach to Eastbourne on Sunday 30th December 2012. We were there for New Year Celebrations. We had a fantastic time the rooms were a little tierd but you only sleep in them. The food was excellant plenty of choice for all courses and the plates were hot. All the staff were good not one sour face among them all very happy to do anything you asked. We even had afternoon tea on two afternoons which weren't on the itinery tea or coffee, mince pies or shortbread and a couple of quizzes. The entertainment was good on all nights the best being on New Years Day it was one of the drifters he was very good sang all the classic's from the 60/70's. Would certainly go back for New Year. In Feburary we are going to Lake Como with Shearings will let you know how that was.

Room Tip: Pay the little bit extra and get a room with sea view we were on the 4th floor.

My friend and I have just returned from this fantastic weekend in Eastbourne. Malcolm our driver was a mine of information on so many subjects. On arrival the girls on reception were so friendly, as they were the whole weekend. Bruno our waiter was so helpful, nothing too much trouble for him, the lady next to us was on a gluten free diet and he was great with her requirements. Mark Snow the entertainments manager is a really lovely guy, with a lovely singing voice. Fri nights entertainment was brilliant, Christopher Gee, impressionist and comedians, he was so funny, better than a lot of impressionists on tv, his Eric Morecambe, Benny Hill and Del Boy to mention a few were spot on. Sat night was singer and saxophinist Rick Bonner, brilliant, also the bar staff danced to Music Man, so funny, so brave, on both these nights Mark also had people on their feet dancing, I have never seen so many people on the dance floor on these Party weekends, usually after the bingo people disappear, not at the Burlington. Marco the magician was also excellent on Sunday. Jo and I agreed this is the best entertainment to date in a Shearings hotel. Malcolm took us on an excursion to Battle and Rye, I was so pleased we had time in Battle, fulfilled one of my wishes to visit the Abbey, and see the 1066 site of the Battle of Hastings, even the driving rain did not deter us, and then a lovely lunch in Rye. Bedrooms were really comfortable and warm (select your own temperature on radiator)
Breakfasts excellent, something for everyone, the only down side on evening meals were the vegetables, quantity and overcooked. 4 drinks vouchers each on Sat evening, made this the perfect weekend . Great location opposite the Pier and a short walk into town. Well done Shearings

Thank you Sandra C for taking the time to reave such a great review. It is clear you and your friend enjoyed the entertainment during the weekend. We are now getting reviews of this nature more and more regarding the current breaks, both Party Weekend and the mid week Bay inclusive are going down a storm. Good to see Mark and Bruno getting a mention along with our lovely Driver Malcolm. I've said in the past in previous reviews it is a real team effort to ensure our guests have the best possible time. Everyone plays their part from the waiters and waitress's to reception to the housekeeping team and the chefs in the kitchen. Thanks again for leaving the review.

Returned yesterday from the Burlington, our second visit. Would highly recommend this hotel. Tony two teds, what a driver, a true gentleman through and through, nothing is too much trouble for him, always jolly and pleasant, very caring and his knowledge of the local area is superb. Trips out are lovely especially day trip to Brighton and a tour of Brighton Pavilion was included, wonderful experience and a must. The hotel location on the sea front is wonderful especially if you are lucky to get a sea front room, you can hear the waves from the room and see the pier all lit up. The Manager Christine is really friendly and so lucky to have such wonderful staff working for her. Mark Snow entertainer is one in a million, lovely personality, has the place in an uproar and a lovely singer, Mathew from the coffee shop is an asset to the team, full of life and really looks after you, bar staff work really hard and are quick and efficient whilst maintaining a sense of humour. This is a big hotel with plenty of seating in various areas both lively and quiet.. The food was excellent lots of choices with a varied menu, staff quick and efficient, our waiter was Bruno who always greeted us with a friendly smile. You arrive not knowing anyone and leave as friends. Will return again.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 320, twin, large room with a tripple aspect overlooking the sea with a side view o...
