My first visit to Malta and Ta Torri. One of a kind!. Beautiful villa with gorgeous gardens and swimmg pool. Very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. My husband and I stayed in the tower and the rest of our grown up children and grandchildren stayed in the main villa. Perfect place for a large family group like ours.
Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Malta. Close to the airport but not close enough to be disturbed by the flights. Good place to be located for exploring Malta.
Needing a base for 7 adults and two children attending a family wedding near Mdina and wanting to be close to the bride who lives in Siggiewi, Ta Torri seemed to fit the bill. The location near the airport in Mqabba which I knew to be a quarrying village might not be everyone's first choice but I need not have worried. The medieval villa and tower provided lots of interest and space. The garden is spacious, shady and stunning with lots of seating areas, and the pool was an essential cool amenity on a hot week in August. The beds are comfortable and the facilities including the essential air-conditioning all worked. We did see and hear the planes coming and going but they did not disturb us at all, and the odd session of plane spotting was much enjoyed by our two young grandsons who loved the very large garden. We all had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to book again. The only niggle was the bathrooms which although they work could benefit from an update.
Our group of 2 mammies, and 4 adult, or almost adult children had a wonderful time at Ta Torri. On arrival the amazing house and courtyard and gardens unfolded as we explored. We loved the ancient parts of the house, the stone staircase, medieval tower and colonnaded garden. There are plenty of mod cons too, with a well equipped kitchen, and air conditioning which meant we ate and slept well. The village location is very convenient, with Alfred the baker just around the corner. We were so enthusiastic about our daily visits to him that we amassed a bit of a Maltese bread mountain during our stay! There are a couple of small shops in the village including a very good fruit and veg shop. The location is very convenient for the airport so one car was enough for most of our stay. The local bus took us easily in to Valetta for dinner on several nights. The rest of the evenings we cooked and sat out in the inner courtyard enjoying the magical atmosphere and the nightly fireworks lighting up the skiy. Highly recommended
Stayed with my family for the fourth time in Ta Torri. It’s easy to return when you know exactly what you get. The chilled water dispenser is a great addition. Perfect and very pleasant holiday. It is nice to see new stores open in Mqabba as years pass by. Not tourist oriented - but real places for real residents. We had haircuts done for the whole family in the village etc.
I highly recommend if you look for a peaceful place for a bigger family away from the crowds (and the heat of Malta in summertime!).
P.s. In the summertime you will see and hear fireworks from some village almost everyweek. Spot the village from the fireworks with your map and go see the village festival on Friday or Saturday evening for a nice Maltese experience.
All previous reviews are so true. Beautiful villa and gardens. All the rooms spotless and a lovely welcoming touch of a vase of flowers in the reception room. With all the rooms it 's like a Tardis ! one room leading to another beautiful room. I'ts very quiet and relaxing, near the airport but no noise from the planes. The only noise was from nightly festival firework displays in the nearby villages which we could watch from upstairs in the villa. The swimming pool was good being the same depth throughout and the patio area for sunbathing well equipped with sunloungers ,tables and comfy chairs. The main kitchen was very well equipped with a very welcome chilled water dispenser. Our 18 year old grand daughter stayed in the Tower and just loved it . This property has been so well restored, all the photos on the walls showing the progress and how much has gone into the restoration and still managing to leave the character of the building. We didnt hire a car but used the local buses which go from one side of the island to the other and were fairly reliable . We managed to visit everywhere we wanted to. The local store and takeaway were good , the local people very friendly. The team of cleaning ladies on our last day was a sight to see . I have never seen such immaculate cleaning - I just wished they lived near me ! Absolutely brilliant relaxing holiday
This is a stunning property. It is located close to the airport, but airport noise was not a problem at all. This central location means it is easy to visit all of Malta's attractions.
The house if full of character, with an old stone spiral staircase, lovely nooks and crannies in the living room, a bath squeezed in under the stairs, etc. The kitchen is very well equipped. The bedrooms are large and airy, and all have air conditioning. There is an inner courtyard that is perfect for late evening outdoor dining, with a gas BBQ. The outer courtyard contains a lovely 10x4m swimming pool. It has stunning stonework, and beautiful planting, including an ancient olive tree, and lots of superb reptiles - we saw lizards, salamanders, and a chameleon in our week at Ta Torri. There is also a Boules court. At the end of this outer courtyard is an 18th Century tower containing a bedroom, bathroom and small kitchen. Ideal for grandparents or second couples sharing a holiday. Also good for keeping the beer cold close to the pool!
The owners are superb, making everything very easy. Their recommendation of Alfred the Baker (100 yards away) was fantastic - he is a lovely man and bakes the most amazing bread! We wouldn't have found him without the inside knowledge.
Overall, we had a fantastic time. This place is highly recommended.
Just got back from another truly relaxing and get away from it all holiday at Ta Torri. This Maltese house of character is owned and managed by Margaret in the UK. The mix of historic architecture but all modern cons is exceptionally well accomplished. Whilst hiring a car gives you the freedom of Malta Mqabba is so well serviced by local buses you do not have to. 8 mins to airport and from there fast X routes to the whole island. The village shops less than 8 mins walk away stock all you need to self cater. There are a couple of places to eat and drink and you could not wish to meet a friendlier bunch of local people.
The secluded gardens of Ta Torri mean that you can just relax by the pool occasionally rise for the odd game of table tennis or pétanque. There is a dvd player for evening entertainment and a bookshelf of books.
As others have mentioned Malta is not short of biting insects so pack the insect repellant, swimming costume and sun tan cream and enjoy! Only don’t spread the word too much as we need to go back soon!
