“Why is this Hotel so worthy of all the Accolades it Gets ?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

Grounds : beautiful manicured gardens, different coloured comfy loungers and hammocks, lovely pools, and a delightful beach front dining area for lunch ( 246 ) that is magical at night.

Hotel : easy on the eye, Mediterranean style – big enough to offer various facilities, but not too big – just right for the At Home feel. Good, air conditioned gym with modern Cybex equipment, towels, cold water and TV. Air conditioned computer room with many desks. Free Wifi is everywhere that you do not even need to log into. Two bars for cocktails etc, both by pools. A delightful inner, adult only quiet small pool area with waterfall.

Rooms: Our beach front room 219 was fabulous with such views ! Queen sized bed, 2 basins in bathroom, efficient shower, masses of fluffy towels. Large flat screen TV with BBC World etc. Of course easy access WIFI. An airer on the balcony for drying swim suits etc You get a bottle of water each night. Efficient, roomy fridge.

Food : Great choice for breakfast with eggs cooked to order as well as scrambled eggs . bacon etc Lots of prepared fresh fruits etc On the grounds and beach staff come around with fresh fruit and ice lollies during the day as well as moistened, cold face towels,

Beach : Loads of fluffy beach towels available. Fabulous for swimming, snorkelling ( right in front of hotel – equipment available at water sports hut ) , and swimming with turtles nearby for free !. And great for water side walks for miles. Free water sports including Hobbie Cat sailing and water skiing and lots for kids. Also a oh so comfy, sheltered, free, regular, water taxi to take you to one of the other two resorts, the best of which is Colony Club – lovely place to visit/dine etc

Roadside : close to many cheap eats and fine dining and within 5 mins quick, cheap bus ride to Holetown just north of there for such a wide range of options for dining ( 4 - 5 by the sea ) , drinking and clubbing as well as a well stocked supermarket and chemist. Across road from hotel is a petrol station for snacks etc for your room fridge.

Icing on the cake : The staff led by Kim Griffith Lewis that do everything to make you feel welcome and enjoy your holiday – from the Concierge at the front desk to book trips, restaurants, to the Beach Ambassador staff that can set up your sunbeds ( oh so comfy ) where ever you want and bring you drinks as you want them, which includes just iced water for free !. And friendly, security staff keeping an eye on your welfare.

Standards Example : The engine of the water taxi broke down one day – they immediately hired a glass bottom boat to fill in duties until the engine was fixed.

Hotel’s own Photographs on their website : They say a picture tells a thousand words. I can assure you that what you see is EXACTLY what you get. What is on the side of the tin is what is inside !!

My Photographs : See noted below my other earlier reports with many photos

Any weaknesses :
Room Bed – not long enough for tall folk – staff will willingly stuff pillows down between headboard and top of mattress to give extra length.

246 Beach Front Dining : If there is significant rain, there is not enough shelter so dining has to be transferred to the breakfast, sugar cane room, which is fine for breakfast, but dull and uninspiring for lunch and dinner. But you can dine out on these nights in many great restaurants nearby, such as Daphnes next door or Scarlets across the road – or 5 mins bus or taxi ride to Holetown for many o

The Tamarind Cove in Barbados is a great hotel/resort. My family and I really enjoyed everything about it. Great location, great resort, great people, great everything! I would recommend this resort to anybody who wants to get away to a nice beach resort. Trust me, the kids will thank you for chosing it.

Excellent beach hotel with complimentary water sports (e.g. snorkeling, hoobie cat, paddle boarding, water skiing etc.) We enjoyed the 1a service very much as well as the delicious food & drinks at Daphne's restaurant. We can also recommend the concierge service (e.g. for divers: diving excursion with the padi school reefers & wreckers from Speightstown with a pick-up at the hotel. Ask for Philip.). This was a unforgettable experience!

We came here for our honeymoon in 1988 and decided to come again for our 25th anniversary, it turned out to be a great decision, the hotel has been refurbished since then (actually quite recently) and it would have been nice if we had been too....We were upgraded to a junior suite ocean view and the first room (220) was above reception and pretty noisy but there was no problem moving us and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Our final room was 325 and had a great view and was very quiet, spacious and with everything we could need. The only slight complaint was the fridge - we had to turn it off during the night because of the noise. The cleanliness was unbelievable and the cleaning staff that we saw were obsessive in their attention to detail and clearly worked very hard. The watersports guys were also very accommodating and for us this was an important part of the holiday, all were without fail, friendly and efficient as well as being seriously relaxed. The beach space is lovely, with well kept sun beds and sadly the highlight for my wife was probably the delivery of ice lollies at 4pm every day....we went for B&B only and breakfasts were pretty decent, particularly the omlettes made fresh as you waited, however, if there was anything stopping the hotel getting 5 stars it was the food - whilst pretty decent quality, it was in my opinion, too expensive - at least on a par price-wise with other West Coast restaurants (so very expensive) but not really at the same level. That's not to say the food was bad as it most definitely wasn't, just not really up to the standard of other restaurants despite charging the same amount.
We looked at the House hotel next door, which is a sister hotel and substantially more expensive and whilst the rooms there were more contemporary in design, personally, I would go for the Tamarind every time in terms of value for money. We would seriously consider coming again and it would be a terrific place to come back with our grown up kids.
Thanks to all the super friendly staff who contributed to such a lovely holiday.

This is probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The accommodation was luxurious, the setting beautiful - I opened my door each morning onto a canvas of blue sea and sky, frangipanis and coconut palms, humming birds, swimming pools and soft sand. All the staff were both friendly and diligent. Within a few days most of them knew my name and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was varied and good. The free water sports were fabulous, and the staff who ran them were excellent - they were competent and safety conscious and all had a kind manner, particularly appreciated by nervous clients. It was thanks to TC that I managed to waterski for the first time - he guided me carefully and calmly through the technique and encouraged me to keep going even when I thought it was hopeless. After just 10 minutes of his tutoring I was waterskiing right along the bay. An absolutely excellent holiday

Room Tip: The rooms with a view over the pool and on out to sea were lovely. Top floor gave the best views

Just returned from a 10 day trip to The Tamarind with my 19 year old son. What a fabulous holiday destination. Although the first impression of the hotel was a little disappointing as the reception area is dated and a little tired the rooms and outside areas have been renovated to a very high standard and were very impressive. My son had a fab time with the inclusive waters sports especially the wake boarding!! Also very nice touches during the day such as ice cold towels to cool you down and fresh fruit delivered to your sun bed. Would have no problem recommending this hotel as a nice relaxing sun drenched destination with lots of activities for children and staff who were very happy and friendly.

Room Tip: It's worth upgrading to a junior suite and would recommend a 2nd or 3rd floor room for the views
