Firstly let me say that we stayed the end of May to early June for 2 weeks. My family was one of many that had been duped into booking a 'Premier Family', then to have the hotel removed from this 'reputable' class by First Choice. My requirements for a holiday consisted of a family friendly hotel, entertainment for the children and being on the beach.
My family arrived late at night, with two small children, 3 and 4, 4 cases and a buggy. From exiting the coach we had no assistance with luggage, followed by no assistance to the room. Our room was large, but dated, and i was disappointed, the words of other trip advisor views ringing their warnings in my ears. First impression on the charmless bar area/reception with no atmosphere at all was, i want to go home! Bedrooms are large, but I have stayed in 2* rooms at 2* star prices that had been nicer, very hard beds and tiny bathroom.
However daylight brought morning which brought our first glance at the grounds, lovely, pool area, very nice and beach. What beach? It was terrible. Our first week was lovely and relaxed, then the schools broke up and the place was packed, if you went to the pool after breakfast then you could only get a bed on the grass by the sea, no good if your little ones want to play in the pool but a lovely spot without children nagging you :)
Food at the restaurant was ok, some days better than others and more importantly the kids always had plenty. Food from the pool bar was bland, no kids portions available so always alot to be thrown out. Service in the restaurant was good for your first 2 days, you felt looked after with assistance with drinks etc, after a few days this stops completely. During our manic second week the restaurant struggled, its not nice waiting for a dish to be replenished when you have children who have quickly finished their 20th chicken nugget of the day wanting to go the show!
On to the entertainment, great if your under 10. Kids loved the minidisco, and hotel extended this part during our stay. Ampitheatre is a bit of a nightmare if you have little ones. One night we had 'Movie Night' at the pool bar... Homeward Bound! .That place was empty after 5 minutes. Some nights better than other, Greek night was boring but the fire show was great. Daytime entertainment was for older children, the kids club was awful. I had the pleasure of staying and witnessing as my daughter was 6 months short of 4, looking back im glad of this. It was torture, a woman with no natural ability with children had them sitting on a floor playing a game I didn’t understand that involved rolling a dice and eating a smartie(?) Fabulous fun for them.
This is more a wedding hotel than a family hotel, guests flock in huge groups to the hotel and only due to our lovely first week we noticed the difference this made to the hotel. By day ten me and my partner wanted to come home. This hotel put me off weddings abroad which i was looking to book after a lovely holiday in Rhodes.
If you are booking out of season, or are getting an extremely good deal then go for it. Otherwise im sure Cyprus has far better to offer, I wouldn’t consider staying here again nor recommending, for the small fortune we spent I was expecting better.
