A group of us stayed at Newgale Lodge to celebrate a friend’s birthday party. Siân helped us organise the trip and gave us good advice about which options to choose. We stayed in Ramsey bunkhouse which sleeps 16 and we were able to book the whole bunkhouse to ourselves.
The location was great – just up the road from Newgale Beach, and a short drive from Solva and St Davids and we are all keen walkers so we made good use of the coast path, despite the weather.
John and Nicky, the hosts, made us all feel very welcome and John even gave a few of my friends a lift from the train station. We had booked self-catering but decided to upgrade to B&B which was a good move because Nicky cooked a lovely breakfast for us every day. There is a kitchen in Ramsey Lodge which has everything we needed but we preferred eating in the dining room in Skomer Lodge.
Newgale Lodge has its own bar and we tended to hang out there in the evenings and have a bit of a jamming session on the guitars and piano but we found a nice pub in Newgale called the Duke of Edinburgh which is right on the beach. We would have liked to organise some coasteering and kayaking but the weather conditions weren’t right so we are planning another trip in the Summer. We are really looking forward to it. Thank you to Siân and Nicky and John for such great hospitality.
