“Fabulous nights stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

Travelled here a few years ago and so much has changed. The owners have done a lot of work and the place is looking great!

Accommodation is supplied in numerous small units, each with bathroom, kitchenette and small verandah with sitting area. My unit was clean and offered a few snacks and drinks, mini bar style. With TV and fridge, I was well impressed. The units look over a grassed area and towards the pool which is a descent size for a swim and coupled with a heated spa. Just through the fence you can see the waters of the Torres Strait looking over towards Thursday Island.

The pub offered affordable food and drinks, considering the location and the service was friendly. The restaurant offers several meal choices and it spacious and clean. Wongai Wednesday is a famous outing whereby locals frequent the pub on Wednesday evenings for a meal. Local legend Seaman Dan (Aria Winner) plays setting the atmosphere. A MUST DO!!!

Staff went above and beyond when I turned up unexpectedly and requested a room. Great experience, affordable considering where it is positioned, and the friendliest of staff.

Room Tip: Apparently there is a bigger unit for those wanting a little extra space!

Only place to really stay on Horn Island. The self contained dongers are ok, with a little kitchen.
The pools is nice and refreshing..... and that's about it. There's nothing else.
The drinks at the bar are pricey and so is the food. On the subject of food, sometimes I think Gordon Ramsay should make a visit to sort things out. I'd take some food with you to nuke in the microwace if I was only staying for a night or two.

Room Tip: Don't get a room near the pub.... unless you want to here "no woman, no cry" or other...

The rooms were clean and tidy. Rooms contained toaster, microwave and small fridge to make breakfast. There is a bar and restaurant on the premises. I found this hotel suitable for an overnighter if you are passing through for work.
