1-One of the best features of this hotel, unlike most of others in Malaysia was its "customer service". The lady at the front desk "Asvathy" was so courteous, helpful and smiling that it gave the first impression of the hotel as "positive". There were issues with the cards of the room which she sorted out with a smile & guidance. Credit goes to her for promoting the positive image of the hotel.
2-Probably it was the first time that any hotel gave me 3 access cards & only one of them worked for the lift & the room. This needs to be improved as it's a headache keeping safe 3 cards. Now everywhere the hotels give only one card for lift, room & room lights & not 3 therefore, Mercure should also modify it to just one card only.
3-The room was very clean, comfortable, cozy and luxurious with a TV, Hot water kettle with tea/coffee supplies, toiletries, an iron, torch, safety vault with code, hair drier and the clock radio. etc The position of the clock was not proper as it should face the sleeper not at the side. The est placement should be on the table in front of bed.
4-Although bathroom had all the amenities & facilities needed but it is too cramped. When you open the door, it blocks the glass entrance to the shower area and almost touches the commode, so you have to squeeze...1-One of the best features of this hotel, unlike most of others in Malaysia was its "customer service". 5-The ambiance is great, just next to the beach with cool breeze flowing most of the time.
6-Their Ombak cafe was good too with the variety of continental & local food, which tasted good. The breakfast was also full of choices.
The hotel was dominated by the Arab tourists, who were noisy and littering everywhere.I found empty bottles & food remains thrown on the floor of beach side area where those Arab families were sitting. Perhaps a notice regarding littering should be placed in the rooms.
On another note, however, I didn't like the notice that was placed in the room regarding the amenities of the room.
The content of the notice conveys management's mindset of presuming that the guests have foul intentions and the notice kind of warns them of consequences.
A better usage of language should have been to reflect trust in the guests and politely encouraging them to purchase the amenities as souvenirs!More
