“Sunset Cruising with Blue Whale”

Blue Whale Cruises Day Trips
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Whilst visiting Penang once again in the past weeks we booked on board for the Sunset Dinner Cruise..which we did on our last trip to Penang and this latest trip as great as our previous experience. There were a total of 15 on board ..7 of whom were in our party and everyone mixed through out the evening to create a great atmosphere..our host and owner ..Eileen as bubbly as always and nothing is to much trouble for her.
Leaving from Strait Quays we headed down towards the Penang Bridge ..passing there under and kept cruising down to the new bridge...sighting some very wonderful scenes of the sun sinking slowly behind the mountains ..presenting amazing photo shots as cameras clicked away.
While we were all enjoying this ..with free flow of soft drinks ..( you can take your own beer and wine on board)..Eileen and her two girl crew were down stairs setting up our fantastic dinner for us all to enjoy in comfy aircon.
On the return trip to our berth we watched the lights come on round Queensbay Mall and all along the Georgetown skyline making it a wonderful way to end a great evening..We left the jetty at 6pm and returned just after 9.30pm...all every happy with the trip and a different way to view the Penang shoreline

I read about Blue Whale Cruises here on Trip adviser, and sent Eileen an email. She responded immediately, telling me she would be in touch when she had the numbers. Two weeks went by before she got in touch to say she had a group waiting to sail.

Originally the dream child of her husband, he died three years ago and now Eileen runs the tour boat with the help of her Malay captain. Eileen is English and has been living in Penang for the last five years, and shared some interesting stories with me about living here.

The cruise was a lot of fun. All we had to do was show up at the pier down at the Straights Quay harbour at 6pm, Eileen and her crew did the rest. The cost was RM185 per person, with 50% paid up front. We were back around 9.30. I´ll let my photos do the talking.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening cruise along the Penang coast which afforded fabulous views and a picture-perfect sunset. The scenery from the boat was simply outstanding and I was amazed at how different the landscape looked from the water; it certainly provides abundant photographic opportunities for those 'extra special holiday snaps'.

The cruise itself was worth every penny (or RM) charged but as an additional bonus (and completely priceless) was the warmth of welcome and outstanding hospitality displayed. Eileen and her crew greeted us like old friends and made us feel so welcome during the whole cruise that we really didn't want to get off the boat at the end of the evening! Whether it was pointing out landmarks of interest or offering us unlimited free soft drinks and endless nibbles, they just radiated genuine warmth and excelled in the provision of quality customer care.

We stayed in Penang for several months and undertook many activities during that time but nothing came close to our cruise on the Blue Whale. I would recommend the cruise as a 'must do' ~ you won't be disappointed!

if you want a fantastic experience in Penang and something that is completely different to temples etc then you must do a cruise with blue whale...owned and operated by Eileen since the passing of her husband this lady ( English ) will provie you with a view of Penang that many never see ..from the water..
Providing day cruises to Monkey Beach and a Sunset Dinner Cruise on board her boat you will have a great time and eat on a feast fit for a King and his Queen
Leaving from Strait Quays the Monkey beach trip is near a full day whilst the Sunset cruise leaves at 6pm and gets back in round 9/9.30pm
minimum numbers needed to make the cruise viable so best to book WELL in advance so Eileen if needed can scout round for others on the date you decide to book ..Wife and I have done both cruises ..the last just a week ago and looking forward to our next visit to penang so we once again can be part of her crew
Eileen can be reached by email at ...bluewhalecruises@gmail.com...mention David referred you
