In search of some good butter chicken we decided to try this place. While the setting is nicely decorated clean and new looking with nice furnishings the food was a real let down. There was no butter chicken on the menu. The boneless chicken masala was tasty but only slightly warm. The samosa tasted okay but was a bit doughy. The two shrimp didn't leave you wanting for more. Portions were extremely small and over priced. Don't plan on returning.

We were surprised to arrive Friday at noon and find we were the only customers in the restaurant. In fact, they turned on the a/c prior to giving us our menus. The menu was extensive and did not include the set meals that were advertised in front of the restaurant. We asked for the list of set menu items, much less in price. We were disappointed as we felt they were trying to take advantage of our situation. The food was hot but nothing above average, briyani, lentils, veggie dish and chick pea dish. Reasonably priced but not worth a repeat visit. Just as we were leaving, two local ladies in bank uniforms arrived and were not surprisingly given the set menu only.

Our family of four recently visited Penang and we were keen to have a good Indian meal. Based on good reviews from Trip TripAdvisor, we dined at Passage Thru India. The Indian theme of the room was cosy and inviting. The food was very tasty, authentic and reasonably priced. The menu had a good variety. The waiter was efficient and food came out quickly after we ordered. Overall, we liked the restaurant so much that we visited it twice during our short stay.

We visited the newly opened Tanjung Bunga location. We live in the neighborhood and were watching the renovations and eagerly anticipating the grand opening.

We visited for lunch on a weekday, and was lavished with service that was eager to please, and very professional. We selected Chicken Korma with Steamed Rice and Dhum Mutton Biriyani, and a Mango Lassi to share. I had asked about lunch specials or set lunches and was informed that they were only served on the weekends.

While we waited, we were served a basket of lovely spiced Papadum and Coriander Chutney. They refilled the basket at no extra charge.

Our mango lassi arrived minutes later and it was sweet and tangy with lovely mango pulp. We prefer a thicker yoghurt, but this was a good beginning. the restaurant certainly exudes an upmarket feel with vibrant paintings and upmarket furniture.

We had mixed reactions with the entrees--the Dhum Mutton Biriyani was exquisite with a symphony of harmonious spices, it was visually alluring with flecks of saffron colored rice and whole cardamom. The mutton was boneless, moist and tender. Unfortunately, the Chicken Korma was thin, insipid and if you closed your eyes, thought it was watered down coconut cream on rice. Inexcusable considering the price point.

As an incentive, the restaurant offers a 20% promotional discount on each bill.
