Description: The front room is a cafe which aims to be as relaxing and comfortable as your own front room. Situated on the sea-front in Mumbles, opposite Southend gardens and the children's playground, we offer delicious home-cooked food, really good coffee and scrummy home-baked cakes. Our all-day breakfast choices range from the front room big brekkie, french toast, smoked salmon and eggs, organic porridge and door-step bacon butties, all prepared using quality products which are locally sourced. Lunches range from hearty home-made lasagne to paninis, jacket potatoes and home-made soup. Children are well catered for too with our 'munchkins' menu, which includes great food they'll love from 95p! There's even a big box of toys, crayons and lego to keep them occupied. Our specialty is cream teas which are served on vintage china... a real treat. Whether it's for a cuppa with friends, a family meal or an afternoon treat... come and cosy up in our front room.

“Evening Soiree at The Front Room”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

We went last Thursday to a monthly soiree at this restaurant in Mumbles. Although it was a wet and windy night outside, it was nice and warm in the restaurant. It is small with only half a dozen or so tables. You have to book in advance and also pre-order from the three course menu offered - with a choice of 4 starters, 4 main courses, and 4 desserts. The owner sends emails out to previous customers and, if you want to go, you need to book before it gets filled up. You can also bring your own wine/beer although soft drinks can be bought there.

Restaurant opened at 7.30pm for dinner at 8.00pm. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Bottles of wine were opened and glasses sorted. The staff had a list of what had been ordered for each table and started serving just after 8pm.

We all enjoyed our meals and had tried different dishes from the menu. It was a pleasant, informal evening which all seemed to enjoy. I had the goat's cheese tart starter which could have had a bit more cheese in it. The Steak Pie went down well and this was followed by sticky toffee pudding (indulgent but nice!!).

“Cosy lunch stop cafe”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

Went here after a long walk, beautifully flavoured roast butternut soup, perfect soya cappuccino, and Welsh rarebit was gorgeous with chunky portions of granary bread and delicious cheese. Will definitely come again!

“Well worth a regular visit”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

Visited here again for afternoon tea, having become something of a regular. Looking at some of the comments, I was astounded, what do people want? It is NOT a restaurant, and, frankly, some of the comments are pointless, matching cups and saucers? update yourselves ladies, mis-matching is the look for today, quaint and quirky. Food improves every time we go, the High tea is great, and excellent value for money, all freshly prepared, and much better than high teas I have eaten in London hotels, for example. The children's lunch box is excellent value, well balanced choice. Point to moaners, you are ALWAYS asked how things are, so, say so! Vicki and her young assistant are always friendly and helpful, part of the reason we go back. Well done 'Front Room'.

“Delicious food. Friendly staff”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

We we're fortunate to choose The Front Room as our venue for lunch. It was the decor that first attracted us, a little bit quirky and different. The staff were friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. We were a party of five and we all chose differently, but each one of us remarked on how delicious our meal was, all freshly made. So glad we chose this restaurant.
