“Fantastic location, great apartment but a little noisy”
Reviewed January 3, 2011

As mentioned by the other reviewers the accomodation is fantastic and was great for a young family having all that was necessary to have a great holiday. Modern, clean and spacious with all the necessary inhouse facilities (kitchen, laundry etc) plus a fantastic location directly across from a park and the beautiful beach. The staff were really helpful and having lived in Perth previously the lack of a milk bar etc is typical of Perth (everyone drives) and wasn't an issue as there were a good choice of multiple shopping centres within a 5 minute drive radius. Additionally the restaurant downstairs (Panorama I think its called) as well the Dome cafe were great and covered most needs.
Only downside as mentioned previously was the noise and the amount of young people hanging around downstairs and across the road at the park. Nothing intolerable but the booming of the base and the litter left by the Gen Y's was annoying. Also we were given a performance by a troupe of bongo drummers in the park that went quite late and would have been ok had they played something in tune and had talent. Was also informed that there were some issues seen previously (ie Australia Day riot) so there are now no glass signs everywhere and apparently the venues are on their last strike so any potential issues are corrected quickly (ie even saw a collarless dog picked up by the rangers)
Overall a great place to stay but if they could overcome the noise and the pricey rates it would be perfect.

Stayed in February 2010 with my husband, looking forward to a relaxing R&R together. The unit was very modern and clean, fully self-contained and comfortable. Only problem we had was the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights were extremely noisy, due to the bar and restaurant downstairs. Having to listen to loud music until midnight and people constantly screeching car tyres and doing burn-outs in the carpark in front of the hotel meant we didn't enjoy our stay as much as we would of liked.

The penthouse apartment was spacious, modern and offered great views. Close to the beach which is great for families. However, its situated above a restuarant which was particularly noisy over weekends - so definitely not ideal if you are a light sleeper or have small children. It has everything you need for a holiday apartment.

The review by Ellemay, Sydney, Australia is very good indeed. Perfect review as I would write the same. No shops around, not even milk bar. The only place to have some meal is the restaurant downstairs. Get some food ready with you as the suite has nice kitchen with large fridge, oven, microwave, complete kitchen utensils and dishwasher.
Additional info might be about the public transport. There is bus stop few meters away, bringing you to the local shopping center (Westfield Wittsford) or Wittsford Train station (to Perth city). The bus is very seldom though,.. it's about every 20 mins for peak time and an hour at early evening. The last bus would be before 7pm, and the shopping center closes at 6pm on weekdays or 9pm on Thursday night.

I'm also attaching some photos of the suite.

PS.: The staffs are very nice, and I happen to know that there is a high level of customer service quality commitment.

  • Liked — Interiors and utensils
  • Disliked — location - unconvenient as no shop or alternative eating place around.

The Mullaloo Suites are located above the Mullaloo Beach Hotel on the Sunset Coast directly across the road from Mullaloo Beach. Its approx 30minutes drive to Perth and approximately 40 minutes drive from the airport.

Check- in – To check-in one has to buzz the door , the receptionist will let you in. The office closes at 6pm so if arriving later you need to make arrangements with the hotel regarding the key. The key is also a security key for opening the doors of the building.

Room – Our two bedroom apartment Number One was spacious, modern and bright with excellent sea views from the balcony. The kitchen was fully equipped with all necessary items for self catering. A large fridge, microwave and tea and coffee facilities were also supplied.

The lounge/ dining combined rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated with modern furniture. A large plasma TV with foxtel , CD player was extremely useful during our stay.

Bathroom – There are 2 large spacious contemporary bathrooms, one also had a laundry attached whilst the en-suite had a spa bath too.

Facilities – The hotel has a large busy restaurant which overlooks the ocean, we dined most nights here and found the food to be excellent. You do need to book ahead as the hotel gets extremely busy at night.

A café downstairs is under renovation and looks to be opening soon. A bottle shop is also attached to the hotel and you can charge anything back to your room. Car parking is available behind the units.

Overall – These apartments would be fabulous for summer as you just walk across the road to the beach. Our only BIG negative was without a car there is absolutely nothing around except residential houses and the pub. A shopping mall is a good 10 minutes drive away. So to me, a car is totally necessary if staying at Mullaloo Beach. If looking for a beach holiday then these apartments would be terrific.

The hotel can get crowded and noisy but we didn’t find it too bad.

New complex, very modern and clean with all the expected items in. Ensuite has a 1x person spa bath in it and not as advertised being a "Jazucci Tub" , so no good for a romantice evening. Bathroom Natio ammenities are restocked every day as is the Vittoria Coffee, including milk being provided daily if you require such. Good size plasma TV with Foxtel in main living area. Modern white goods. Bedrooms are a good size. Balcony has great views of the sunset and you are able to open up the bifold doors to take advantage of the ocean views and ocean breeze on those hot days and evenings via the master bedroom and main living areas. Units are serviced daily with all beds made and fresh towels. However, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights are very noisy from the below entertaining in the hotel / pub directly below. The thumping sound from the music base speakers along with the vocal noise cant be ignored. Hotel does close at 11pm, but the noises are then replaced with squealing cars showing off leaving the car park. This can go on for another 2-3 hrs if the Police havent attended already.... which is a current occurrence. Park across the road great for kids and to relax, but beware of broken glass throughout the grass from the drunken night before, must keep the footware on. The Apartment website is misleading stating that the windows are DOUBLE GLAZED. These ARE NOT and are only SINGLE GLAZED laminated glass and had these been double glazed, alot of the noise would have been deaden (have 25 yrs glass experience). The compex suites policy to guest is to " minimize noise to a acceptable level for other guest, but at 10pm all noise should stop, NO parties at any time"... laughable policy clause considering the noise from the hotel that the apartment guest HAVE to accept and put up with. If you want a quite night AVOID Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday or request a north end suite top floor (level 3). Value for money compared to other apartments, Yes being right on the beach (100m) and very very modern complex and clean apartment suites but, NO if you thought it was going to be a quite relaxing / romantic stay. With the mentioned hotel / pub noise it does leave the thought of justifying $329 - $549 per night, that you would of expected to be a nice and quite relaxing stay !!!!
