We booked this hotel as we failed to find a hotel that didn't involve selling my lung to stay there.
As other posters have stated its an extra avenue of making money to the hospital, reception is meters away from the main entrance of the hospital but it's quite modern, 32" flat screen tv, little writing desk and chair. Bathroom has everything you need, soap pump in shower, plastic cups for drinking. There is a mini fridge if you have drinks that need chilling. We had 2 rooms, a double and a single room + a fold out for one of our boys. It was quiet, clean and a perfect place to rest our aching bones after a huge day at Preikestolen.
Things I didnt like:- no parking included, being a hospital this was a cost factor!! something they need to address to lure more customers driving cars. 24hr parking @ 125 kr a day. If you are lucky enough there are some parking but its a 10 min walk away from the hotel.
I would rate this hotel perfect for back packers on a budget looking for a clean, comfortable modern hotel. I would think its a 10-15 bus ride into centre of Stavanger. Hvent tasted breakfast but its catered from the main canteen that appears to have a decent menu.

Even though the room was nice. The hotel is totally not prepared for tourists, who hike. We had breakfast included in the price of the room, but we didn't even have a chance to eat it as it is being served from 7.30 am :/ The service didn't even know what are the breakfast hours and it was not aligned what was on the cafe information, so confusing! Additionally we were offered "breakfast packs" instead and they apparently changed from 2 sandwiches, a juice and a fruit into a croissaint from one day to another.

It takes at least 30 min to get to the city centre by bus and buses are not running according to the schedule. To make it for our train to Oslo there was no bus, so we had to walk. There was no possibility to make yourself a warm drink like tea, there was also no hairdryer in the room. Store in the hospital was very expensive. The service annoying ( they didn't seem to know a lot about the buses, nor store around, nor hikes). I believe it can be perfect for mothers that just gave a birth to a baby and can eat dinner with them, but not for tourists!

This wing of hospital is rented out to just about anybody. So during my 2 weeks there (paid for in advance by my employer) I shared a floor with 10 nigerian woman crammed into two or three rooms and running up and down the corridors from 6am shouting in some native language. When they left after 10 days they were replaced by Gid knows how many young teenage girls, some kind of sports team.
There should be acces to a kitchen in case you should want to cook real food rather than the very basic overprices stuff you can buy. In reality the shared kitchen for the 137 rooms concise of a stove and small fridge allready more than full, and you have to go the reception and borrow a key card every single time you want to use to make yourself a cup of tea.
Free wifi is included, and it might actually have worked almost half of the time I stayed there. Each time you approach the reception about this they pretend its the first time they ever heard about it.

Having read previous reviews I was prepared for the fact that this hotel is joined to Stavanger Hospital. It felt very clinical and I was never in doubt that this hotel was indeed joined to a hospital, especially when using the lift or taking breakfast where most of those around me were mothers and new born babies. I would not choose this for a long break with a loved one but for the couple of nights I needed a hotel in Stavanger it was perfect. The room was neat and tidy, breakfast and the canteen staff were excellent and the receptionists were helpful and professional at all times. The price I paid was very reasonable for a city whose hotels are way overpriced so although it was a little strange staying in a hotel joined to a hospital I felt I was better served than I have been in many regular hotels. Ready for a new experience ? Try it.

Overall the hotel is good – that is if you can see past its location (part of the hospital complex) and the overall feel of the place, it pretty much feels like a cross between a sanatorium, a hotel and a Ronald Mc Donald house. This means that lots of the hotel guests have either been just released from treatment, are concerned family members of people in treatments, mothers with their newborn and the like. Sometimes there is an odd group of other guests.

It is all very clean with sporadic decorations. My single room was small but with a good bed and shower. Breakfast has a good offering too. Staff is friendly, helpful and speaks good English.

I probably would not reserve this for a nice family trip or with my loved one, but for a quick overnighter during a business trip where you come in late evening and leave early morning again this is probably a good alternative. There is nothing in particular bad or super good, but the whole experience is a little akward.

As all other reviews would have pointed out... this is not a true hostel/hotel. This is attached to a University Hospital campus and looks like the building hosts the Maternity ward. So I often saw new born babies and new parents.
Obviously the rooms were very clean and neat (the price includes lines and towels as well which is quite good compared to other Norway hostels).
The buffet breakfast was excellent with lot of choices... but what was unique about having breakfast is that I was surrounded by new borns and it was so cute :-)

The only drawback is the distance from city centre... It is not walkable and you have to rely on public transportation (bus route 4) which was probably once in one hour (or may be 2) or Taxis which will charge you atleast 150 NOK.

Maybe not standard paractice in England but found it very odd and basic. We werent sure the number to call down to reception when the lift didnt work so we had to take the stairs from the top floor. Very hospital clean.
