We took the 3 hour cruise to Pulpit Rock. The boat was comfortable, the scenery excellent. With that great benefit of hindsight we would have preferred to have used the car ferry for the full 42 Km length, then driven back through the mountains. I do not think we would have enjoyed the trip in bad weather, the view from the cabin down below was poor and the open deck, where we sat, was cold even in mid-June. Wheelchairs would not be able to access the deck, there is no food or drink available on board so take a picnic.

We took the ferry to Bergen instead of one of the fjord tours, but what we saw on the way was very impressive.

The views are great, even on a rainy day. It is a good boat trip, although the commentary is a bit stilted. If you weren't told pulpit rock was 'special' it is not immediately obvious, but the fjord and the mountains are lovely, The air is fresh and it is great to feel one is absorbing the atmosphere directly, rather than from behind glass. The goats were not hungry today - so we had to content ourselves with seeing two of them lying next to the rock chewing their cud. The seats inside are comfortable and it is probably worth sitting in there during the hour's 'drive' to the fjord itself. As it was a bit wet, most people sat and read or slept that part.

There was a nothing to dislike. A pleasant sunny weather, blue water, fast cruise, rocks of various shape and sizes, idyllic villages, lush greenery and crisp air. A treat for eyes and soul. A mast visit.

We was lucky , had good weather, but they say it is a grat tour also when rainng ? Good guiding along the trip . Be prepared to stand most of the way , to see the fantasic view of the mountains and surrondings. Look out for saels ! It is a three hour trip and can be combined with a bus-ride to the parking from where you can reach the "Prekestolen " by foot.
