Tanks inside the restaurant keep the fish fresh. Sjobua Fiskerestaurant is situated in a renovated warehouse used for fish processing. Here you can enjoy a delicious sortiment of courses with fish and shellfish, made from fresh raw materials. Try tasty meals with for instance monkfish, cod, halibut, catfish and stingray. The food is among the best, the wines are exccelent but don`t go on your own money , you can enjoy much more if you are invited and don`t see the bill. In spite of the prices, I will go again `cose it was very, very...tasty.

Me and my boyfriend travels alot and our passion is food and as we arrived in Ålesund we got two recommendations to go. We passed by the restaurant at lunch and got à good respons and service when we booked the table. But do not let the lobsters and the fish in the entrance fool you, overall this j a big dissapointment. The food was ok, not more not less - we had oysters, codfish and the moves fish plate. We service were really bad, they had no knowledge about wines and neither about their beer as they had one choice on tap but "don't know which one". Don't go, spend the money elsewhere.

Ten years ago this restaurant was one of the best in coastal Norway. Today it is a complete rip-off.
The food is very mediocre, and when the average price for a main course is five $ higher than in the best gourmet restaurants in Oslo, then yes - this place deserves to be called a rip-off.

The food was boring. My fish was ok but it almost drowned in a fatty sauce not suitable at all for fish.

Service was slow and also rather rude.

It is a shame to see a once very good restaurant end up like this. I had high expectations, but after a while I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. And when the bill came I really felt like paying for something that never was delivered.

We had an ok evening at this restaurant. We ordered the scallops, just to be informed the kitchen had run out... The crab soup was excellent though! The meat was unfortunately rather average... We asked the waiter for a wine recommendation but he didn't know what wine that was appropriate to our meal.

We felt the staff could be a bit more discrete during the end. Anxious to get home perhaps....

Overall this was a rather average dining experience.

Only in Alesund for 2 nights but made a point of eating at Sjobua.

Superb food, well presented with lovely flavour combinations.

Serving staff attentive ensuring you have lots of iced water.

We booked for 8pm - peak time, so service was slow to begin with, but the food and setting more than made up for it.

It's an "eating out must" for Alesund's visitors.
