418 amazing stairs! We visited Aksla viewpoint on our last full day in Ålesund and we are so glad that we did. The stairs maybe begin to feel a little challenging after awhile, but there are benches at very near intervals for anyone who needs a short rest.
The view was incredible, both during the climb and at the top. Every time you finish a portion of the stairs, you can look out and see a totally different view. It really was beautiful. Ålesund is already gorgeous, and this is where you go to see it from the above.
There is no admission fee, you just start walking. At the very top, there is a lookout point, and a cafe with picnic benches. You could really stay here awhile and just look out over beautiful Ålesund.
The view from the top is amazing. As you climb up, there are lots of places with one or two stools where you can sit to catch your breath and enjoy the view... We stayed quite a while up there just enjoying the beautiful view of Alesund, the ocean and the islands...
Enjoyed walking up to top using the stairs. It's a lot of stairs but great way to see the views as you stop periodically on way up. At the top there is a nice viewing deck and a restaurant that serves good food
Obviously on a nice day the climb is going to be harder, but it is well worth
it. Such great views, the cafe is reasonable value for where you are.
Beautiful view of Alesund and worth the 418 stair climb to the top. The only let down was the restaurant at the top which said you had to pay 100 Kroner to enter. We were thinking of enjoying a drink at the top to take in the view but not for a 100 Kroner entree fee before your 100 Kroner Geiranger Pils...
The perfect way to see Alesund! There are about 418 steps but you can take them slowly if needs be and it is well worth the walk because there are so many view points on the way up, each with a slightly different perspective. If you are unable to walk then you can drive to the top. There was a huge cruise liner in when we were there - it seems from other photos that there always is - yet that didn't overload the footpath even though it was busy.
