480 steps up to see over the town and the islands in the area. Not worth the effort in my view, and I am fit.

This is a fantastic view point, and a must see for all people who visit Ålesund. The interior could perhaps be upgraded, but is saved by the view. There is not a lot to do up there, except look at the stunning view, and have some food or drinks - or perhaps both :).

The service was really good, and we were met by a smiling, helping woman. We had a really nice meal; the fish soup was incredible, the chicken salad was very good. More than enough food!

It is, as expected quite pricey, but worth doing, especially if you are able to do all the steps!

Firstly, I highly recommend that you head to the fish and chip shop near the Radisson hotel at the waterfront. A large fish and chips is around 90 krone. Combine that with a cold beer from a shop and head up to the viewpoint for a delicious meal with a stunning view. As others have mentioned, the panoramic vista is stunning and a welcome reward for the walk up the hill.

Note: the walk up really isn't that bad. There are a lot of steps but also a lot of resting points along the route.

Nice short walk up to the viewpoint. Along the way there are a couple places to sit and absorb the view.
The view from the top is great but i can imagine it being so much better with clear skies or during the fall/winter when you can see the sun setting at an earlier time than in the summer.
