The room was large, although the sleeping area was kinda tight. There was a small kitchen and a living room too, where the TV set was installed. The view from the window was inwards an alleyway, thus not good at all. The breakfast was served in a restaurant beside the hotel and it was awful, the smell of the place to start with. I wouldn't stay again.

This hotel is in need of some maintenance! Within minutes of checking into our hotel, we realized our door handle to the bathroom was broke, pulling right out of the door. When we opened one of the main windows, it came off the hinges. The toiletseat was broke, and kept sliding to the side. Our door to our room could sometimes be opened without a key! The hotel laundry room for guests use was filthy! Aside from a good location, I would NOT recommend this hotel.

The room and the location are great. You go out right in the middle of the city. It could be above average if the service were more staffed and better managed. I watched a lady, probably a manager, freaking out because someone had left the front door open. Install an automatic door, please!

We stayed for two nights in this hotel. On arrival at noon there was a young dark haired (and some red stripes) girl at the reception. She didn't greet us, nor she said welcome, but the only thing she said: "your room isn't ready yet." Since we hadn't yet told our name (and she didn't seem to caring about it) I asked that could she still look if our room was ready. She said no and that we would have to come back in three hours. She also said that this is a small hotel and that there is not many staff to do everything. It felt like she was being rude to us because she had too much things to do. It is not the customers fault if hotel is fully booked.

We left the bags behind the reception but since I had forgotten my umbrella in the suitcase, my husband asked if we could have one bag to get the umbrella out. She rolled her eyes and looked away while pushed the suitcase back to us. Apparently what we asked was too much for her.

We came back at 3 PM to check in. There was two girls at the reception and the black haired girl was checking a family in. The other girl with curly hair stood behind her and didn't say anything to us or make a sign that we were noticed. That's why I thought she is a trainee and is still learning because it's not very professional to ignore a client. The same evening she (curly haired) was alone at the reception. Anyway, even there were two receptionnist at the check-in, only the black haired girl was checking customers in. The other girl was silent. So we had to wait that the family got their room key and had left with all their bags and kid and then the black haired girl gave us our room key. There was again no welcoming or any sign of hospitality, so if it is only to hand us our room key, why the curly haired couldn't do that for us?
Later during our stay no-one at the reception looks at you or says hello/good morning/good evening, nothing. They must be busy with their computer and not very professional.

The room was clean, but the corridors weren't.
In the shower someone had tourned the hot water to maximum and when I started showering the water was burning hot. That could have been extremely dangerous but I managed to switch the shower off quickly. The WiFi was very slow so we didn't end up being much in our room.

All in all, a stressful stay in this hotel. I would recommend only for the good location, and even then go rather to the Radisson Blu right next door where you will have good service and hammam spa for hotel guests. Nice after a chilly cold Norwegian summer day.

So here's the thing (from someone who stays in this hotel regularly since 2008):
This is Bergen.
Not NY, London, Paris or anyplace else.
If you want concierge, bellboy, porters, valet, restaurant, wine waiters, turn down service etc....then you will be disappointed in pretty much ALL that Bergen have available, probably everywhere else in Norway too excluding some of Oslo's priciest places. If you want all this, Incity will not suit you.
Norwegian hotels are not known for the service ethos, and the rooms can be tiny and basic.
Above said....Incity offers a good sized room, with basic, functional amenities in the absolute centre of town. You also get a fridge, couch in even the smallest rooms, and the staff are friendly and try their best (although there is usually only one on duty at front desk, so patience helps).
Yes- you can find more luxury, even in Bergen, but for the price, having stayed pretty much everywhere else, you will not find larger rooms closer to town.
I would not recommend this hotel for honeymooners, romantic getaways or the kind of holiday where you want to spend the whole time in the hotel, but if youre looking for a big room in central area, then its unlikely you will do better in Bergen.

It is amazing how first impressions can color your experience throughout the stay. When we arrived on Sunday the desk clerk, who admitted she was new, struggled to help us figure out why our electronic room key would not lock the door. She had little training and no back up from management (because it was Sunday). She ended up problem-solving and giving us a manual key, but just one. So throughout our stay we had to coordinate our coming and going. Plus the hotel has a byzantine door locking system that made me worried I'd be locked out. Especially as the desk clerk said we could always call 24/7 but often the front desk had no receptionist and our phones depend on wifi and the hotels wifi signal was spotty.

The room itself was large, and there was a kitchen. Housekeeping consisted of new towels IF you requested them. The big plus was a free laundry for guests to use although plan for lot of time for very slow washer and dryer. The breakfast was average. The location was very good.

I was the most expensive of the hotels we are staying at in Norway and after a great experience in Oslo, it was frustrating to pay more for a budget experiences.

This apartment hotel is just a short walk down to the Harbor and all the museums in town - good location. The apartments are clean and comfortably furnished with modern Scandinavian style furnishings. The kitchen has a good supply of dishes, pots, etc. and includes a dishwasher. It is fine for preparing light meals. Be aware that there are no toiletries at all in the bathroom except liquid soap, no little shampoo bottles, so bring your own.

There is a small, but adequate grocery store (Kiwi) a block away. It has beer, but if you want wine or other liquor, there is a liquor store about 10 minute walk away.

The rooms on the front of the hotel have nice views of the mountains, but the rooms on the back have grim views of trash strewn courtyards and look directly into other apartment buildings. Someone was throwing glass into the trash very noisily each night we were there.

We had a significant problem with our room. It took repeated requests to the front desk over the course of a couple of hours to try to get it fixed. When they couldn't fix it, they finally did the right thing and moved us to a different room and even gave us a free upgrade. I would have given them a D for the first couple of hours of service, but they redeemed themselves at the end.

The room rate also includes a modest breakfast buffet in the adjoining restaurant - nothing special, but enough choice.

Room Tip: If a grim view bothers you, make sure you book a room on the front of the building.
