We recently spent 3 nights in this hotel, in two separate stays, the first of 2 nights and the second visit one night. The hotel is in a great location in the central waterfront / tourist area of Bergen.
The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good.
The building is original, and old, which means that the rooms are not all identical. The building and its fit out has an old world, rustic feel. Our first two nights were in room 227, at the back of the building. The room size and fittings were OK, but it only had one small window, which overlooked an adjacent roof. The electric lighting is also not well considered, so the room had a very drab feel to it. It was physically comfortable but was not an inviting space to spend time in. On our second vsit we were given room 228 at the front of the building. It had two big windows and a lot more natural light. The fittings and furniture were similar, but the light made the room much more pleasant and appealing.
I would recommend this hotel as a place to stay in Bergen, but make sure you get a room with plenty of natural light.

Lobby and breakfast room/bar/restaurant seemed dark and not very stylish. That said, THE perfect location for seeing Bergen's sights... close to varied shopping, restaurants, transportation, etc. The breakfast buffet was quite good. Definitely not a 5 star experience but and OK value with a helpful staff.

I liked this hotel. Our room (a “suite”) was large and well equipped but fairly dark, with a terrible outlook.
The checkin is the simplest I’ve come across: “Here’s your key, breakfast is at...” Great.

Location is spot on, unless there are cruise behemoths in town, in which case it becomes hard to claim a space on the footpath. Best to give up and stay inside...

Breakfast was good.

The personnel of that hotel treated us badly after we complained because they sold us a closet to sleep in...
How can you sell nice looking room online and give this sort of room after ?!
Our room was no joke 12m²...
More over after our complain they even feel like upnosing us..

We booked this hotel because we sow nice room in the pictures, by arrival they gave us a room which was the size of the closet, which had no window or yes it had something reminding the window but I can’t call it like that. Because it was a small hole in the roof the size of 30*40cm. We asked to change the room, and got a slightly bigger one again with window in the room size of 30*40cm.

I went down to ask if they have a room with window because we don’t want to stay in room without it, on what I got very rude and impolite reply from a man on reception, he said “- I have discussed this with many clients, so I’m not going to comment on that anymore. All the rooms are different in the hotel and the one on the pictures is not available. If you don’t like it you can leave I will sell this room tonight, but you won’t get your money back”. Beside that he also made the most stupid jock you can make about us camping the night before “- this room must be a palace for you after camping”!

We have traveled a lot, but I never sow so low-educated people working with guests and speaking so vulgar. Especially when they know they do wrong things by selling the rooms which is not available.

If you looking for a welcoming hotel during your vacation and don’t want to end up with a room without proper window, stay away from this place!
