Bryggen Panorama Suites

This is a spacious and lovely apartment in a beautiful area of Bergen. We can watch the ships out of one window and the city streets out of another. We booked the 2 bedroom apartment for 3 of us and had lots of room. Why not a 5? Well reception, despite advertising being open 24/7 all year wasn't we had to pay in advance and use a lock up box to get the keys. It was all very clear and easy but not as advertised. And the second reason was that just a few little things would have made the stay easier, maybe some tea and coffee, salt and pepper and more than one loo roll. These little things go a long way to making one feel welcome and at home.

Room Tip: You will need to bring all food and drink with you.

Our family of 6 loved this apartment. We prefer very modern ecofriendly and spare surroundings and this worked. We arrived very late at night and had no wait or issues with a quick check in at the YMCA. The location was superb...just a few blocks from the wharf. And the view/terrace were great (it was rainy and foggy during our visit but it was still nice to look out and see the buildings and boats). We appreciated the washer/dryer (but it was a challenge deciphering the Norwegian instructions). The showers were strange (but we came to learn that these showers were common in Norway)...the doors are right on the floor with just a small rubber rim to keep the water contained. The water was all over the floors if we were not super careful about it. On a serious note, a family member needed middle of the night medical care and the night porter at the YMCA was very helpful and caring in assisting us.

The 1 bed apartment was clean and spacious, with wonderful location and views. The windows blocked out any noise from the youth hostel. However, it felt unfinished.Usually, apartments at this price and standard have basic tea and coffee supplies. There were spare pillows, but no pillow cases. A warning for anyone who likes to stretch out in bed: the bedroom featured 2 signle beds pushed together, but not properly fastened, so they drifted apart in the middle of the night. This apartment was good, but with a little effort, would have been great. The views cried out for a telescope.

We recently stayed two nights here - there are two apartments within the 'Bryggen Panorama Suites' - the top floor is one bedroom and 4th floor is the two bedroom.
We stayed in the one bedroom, which was lovely, exactly as it looks in the photos, lovely views over the harbour, and a nice roof top terrace area.
The apartment is well equipped and spacious. It is centrally located right in the centre of Bergen, so easy walking distance to most sights, attractions, shops, restaurants, etc.
It is managed by the adjacent YMCA - you have to check in there, so be prepared for a long wait in the queue as it is a very busy hostel.
There is a grocery store within the building, which is very convenient, however, there was a smell of rotting fruit and veg in the corridor leading to the apartment elevator entrance.
On our first night at the apartment, shortly after arriving after a long day travelling, we had just had showers, when the owner let herself in (with only a cursory knock) to supposedly fix a handle in the shower cubical (this was totally unnecessary in our opinion and could have waited), which was rather off-putting.
On our second night, we were disturbed and kept awake all night by the guests in the lower apartment having a loud party. This started at 8pm and continued until around 5am. People were ringing our intercom bell, at one point at 3:45am, and there was music and loud shouting.
There is supposedly an 11pm ''quiet time'' - but obviously no one monitors this.
The following morning, at 9am, we were about to leave, when the fire alarm was activated.
Obviously the elevator stopped working, so we attempted to leave the building via the stairs - but the fire escape door was locked.
After going onto the roof terrace and shouting over to the YMCA, they sent staff with keys to open the fire escape door - however they could not unlock it.
We were potentially trapped in a burning building, so had no option but to climb over the balcony and lower ourselves (and our luggage) onto the YMCA balcony below us. This was a drop of about 15 feet, and we are both aged 50.
So - to summarise, this is a lovely apartment in a good central position, but there needs to be improvement on the management side, which clearly lets down the standard, when you are paying a lot of money to stay there.

We celebrated our friends bachelorette party in Bryggen panorama ' s fourth floor suite and it was the perfect place to stay after a long fun day with different activities in the city centre of bergen. The apartment is big, has an amazing view from the living room and a big balcony. Elevator. kitchen is very well equiped and has a large fridge to contain drinks, food leftovers etc. This apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms which was excellent since we were 8 girls in one flat at the same time ( four of which spent the night). Interior is modern, comfy and we would definitly like to stay here longer.
This is an apartment located in the middle of everything and and still not much noise from the outside or other floors.
We experienced unbelievable good service, we got to check in early and check out late and the whole experience was amazing. Thank you.
