Helpful staff, had tea and coffee all day long in their small breakfast area, this was included in the price. The breakfast was good but nothing outstanding.
Has narrow stairs and may be difficult to folks with diminished physical abilities.
The place was impeccable clean , will be back if we return to Bergen.

This 19th century mansion is a pleasant change from the usual plain and boxy hotels. Decorated with antiques, it has an air of elegance and history. However, the average-size room is contemporary in style. Noise seems to be an issue, hence the ear plugs which are included in the bathroom amenities. We had a room facing the road at the front of the hotel, from where we could hear people chatting and laughingly loudly into late evening. However, it was the weekend so it might not be so noisy during the week.

Complimentary coffee, tea (many varieties) and delicious brownies are available in the cosy dining room which however, does not serve dinner. Breakfast was satisfactory.

From the hotel, it was an enjoyable thirty-minute stroll downhill through historical buildings, ending up at the famous Bryggen old wharf area which was teeming with numerous eateries.

As it was the weekend, parking was free outside the hotel.

This is a charming little hotel. The room are beautiful and comfortable. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. Breakfast was very rich. It's a few minutes walk from the center of the city. They have free wifi. Defiantly would like to stay there again.

Got the largest suite by luck and really enjoyed the accommodations. A few minutes from the train and bus station. Easy to get to airport bus. About a 10 min walk from the WHARF through main shopping area.

Free tea, coffee and brownies outside of breakfast hours is a very nice touch.

In theory a pleasant hotel, and indeed some of the rooms are nice, the atmosphere is good (as it should be in a hotel connected to the chain Historic hotels in Norway), staff are helpful and breakfast is fine. However, some of the rooms face the street, and sleeping can become difficult, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. In particular I would avoid room 211 and 111 in the building across the street. They have windows to two streets. When bringing up the lack of sleep the day after, front desk did not offer anything except an apology. That´s not good enough when the price is almost 2000 NOK for a night.

Dear guest. Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback.

The weekend you stayed with us was the first weekend that the students is back
afther the summer holiday. We have the same problem every year that is a lot of parties
all over the city. I am afraid is nothing we can do with that. We was also fully booked and since you did not tell us before check out it was difficult to do anything.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel; staff very pleasant; breakfast fine; our room was downstairs next to the office; all downlighters which create a nice atmosphere but make it difficult to read. Bathroom facilities tight but adequate. After a good night sleep we were awakened the first morning at 7:45 for our room alarm to be checked (there did not seem to be anything wrong with it.. )The next night, however, we were awakened by a very loud conversation. After some 20 minutes or so, I thought my watch had stopped and opened the door to check the time. Across in the dining-room, some 10 good metres from us, was a guest talking to a member of staff at the top of his voice. The time was 4:20 am by then!! I asked him to lower his voice in regard for other guests which he did immediately. Could the member of staff not have done that? This was not 11pm nor 6am but truly the middle of the night, and the man was not irate just probably deaf and very loud therefore. The manageress apologised the next day but staff training needs to be firmed up.

Room Tip: The manageress admitted that the room we were in was exposed to noise (and would probably be turned...

Dear guest. Than you for taking the time to give us feedback.
I am so sorry that you had problems
with sleeping caused to load conversation. The room you stayed in next to the reception will
in Desember be removed and be a part of the reception area. We will even get a nice fire place. The reception area will get much larger so when it is a lot of guests in the breakfast room in the summer time, the guests can also have some light breakfast there.

If you ever come to Bergen again you a very welcome and we will find a very nice room for you. :-)

We were a late check-in and in our first room in the main building we noticed a sewage smell coming from the shower in the bathroom. The next morning when we advised the front desk, they promptly offered to move us to a different room & let us check out 2 open rooms. We chose a room in the building across the street and were quite happy with the way the situation was handled. The rooms are very clean, nicely decorated & well appointed. There is a computer & printer available for printing boarding passes. We liked the complimentary tea, coffee and brownies that are available 24 hrs. in their dining area. Breakfast selection was good. The front desk staff were warm, friendly & helpful. We booked this hotel thru Fjordtours. If you are arriving to Bergen by the Express Boat from Balestrand, there are plenty of taxis waiting. We took taxi from boat dock to Hotel. While the Hotel does provide earplugs, we did not need to use them. No issue with noise. It was rainy weather & so not many people out on the streets late at night. I would highly recommend this Hotel. For those with mobility issues, be aware that there is a steep hill walking back from the city center.
