We were a late check-in and in our first room in the main building we noticed a sewage smell coming from the shower in the bathroom. The next morning when we advised the front desk, they promptly offered to move us to a different room & let us check out 2 open rooms. We chose a room in the building across the street and were quite happy with the way the situation was handled. The rooms are very clean, nicely decorated & well appointed. There is a computer & printer available for printing boarding passes. We liked the complimentary tea, coffee and brownies that are available 24 hrs. in their dining area. Breakfast selection was good. The front desk staff were warm, friendly & helpful. We booked this hotel thru Fjordtours. If you are arriving to Bergen by the Express Boat from Balestrand, there are plenty of taxis waiting. We took taxi from boat dock to Hotel. While the Hotel does provide earplugs, we did not need to use them. No issue with noise. It was rainy weather & so not many people out on the streets late at night. I would highly recommend this Hotel. For those with mobility issues, be aware that there is a steep hill walking back from the city center.

Staff was very very friendly. Helped with everything I asked. The rooms are extremely clean. The hotel was a very good deal as well. One of the cheap hotels in Bergen. The hotel is this old building that gives off a homely feel, but it seems the rooms have been updated recently. It is only a 5-7 minute walk from the bus station. They provide a nice breakfast every morning, and delicious brownies each night.

Nice hotel, located in the University area of Bergen. The room I had was pretty small, but it was very clean and well appointed, and the whole hotel was decorated in quite a homely quirky manner.

Breakfast was a basic continent breakfast, nothing special but quite good coffee.

There was no bar, but they sold bottled beer at about 35 Nkr which wasn't bad for Bergen and they had coffee, tea and brownies available around the clock.

The room it's self was quite pricey at just under 1000 Nkr, which is about $130 and was in my mind quite a bit for a small single room, but I guess Bergen itself is quite pricey in general.

This is a great hotel to stay in Bergen. It is Definitely not a chain hotel, and the family feel comes through strongly. It has an eclectic decor, marrying Norwegian influences with other parts of the world. the rooms are modern, clean and welcoming. The bathrooms are also clean and modern, but watch that they Alison double up as the shower so they can get a little wet. But really don't give that a thought. All in all a highly recommended hotel.

Took us about 10 minutes walk from the railway station
On arrival we were efficiently checked in and informed tea and coffee were available free of charge all day in the breakfast room. This was great after each day,s outing and brownies were provided
Rooms excellent standard and included a couple of arm chairs and a fridge
Highly recommended

This was a great place mainly because of the cozy interior design and the view from the top floor was amazing!
The staff was also friendly and helpful.
Naturally they served a Norwegian breakfast which was fine for a 3 star hotel.

The location in Bergen was also good (although it is not right in the middle of everything).

The bathroom on the top floor, where we stayed, however was terrible.
The roof was pitched in the bathroom, so my husband who is 1,9 meters could not stand up straight to wash his hands, and there was hardly any water in the sink and shower at times when everyone is usually showering (this was apparently just on the top floor, and we did not complain to get another room until the last day because we were really happy about the view and the room on the top floor).
In addition, because of the pitched roof, there were no proper shower curtain/door to the shower so there is water everywhere after you have showered.
And the seagulls were being really noisy outside at 7:30AM (we kept the window open).
You can also hear "everything" through the doors, and that is why they give you earplugs at the hotel.

But if it had not been for the lack of water in the shower, I would go back to this place.
It was clean, cozy, nice and spacious and the view was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
The internet connection was good.
Maybe next time I will stay at a room on the 1st floor, but then I will not get a view....

Great welcome in a Historic Hotel, Not for the less than agile. Stairs!!!, and located at top of steep hill. Rooms need to be soundproofed ,bit by bit. This would enhance the stay tremendously/ Staff, helpful,& friendly;Breakfast buffet first class, only a 10 minute walk to harbour, or a £14 taxi ride!! Nothing is cheap in Norway. Lovely city, lovely people. If you don't have a mobility problem, and don't mind a bit of next door Room "noise", A very good Hotel in Quiet area of Bergen town.

Room Tip: try a ground floor room, stairs won't be a problem!!
