The sailing ship was built in Germany as a training ship for the German mercahnt marine, it was called Grossherzog (Grand Duke) Friedrich August.
It was bought by Kristoffer Lehmkuhl (hence the name) in 1921.
It has a proud history making reguilar appearances at the Kieler Woche and it will have pride of place in Bergen Harbour in 2014 for the Tall Ships race.
We could not go onboard, you can get close to her on the wharf though.
