The pretty colored houses gel so well into the surroundings. There is an ice cream parlor nearby that offers delicious ice cream @ 2 Euros only. Enjoying the vibrant colors in bright sunshine with the pleasant sea breeze and a yummy ice cream to lick with you partner - what more can you ask for a perfect day?

It's nice to walk around and explore the shops and see the interesting old wood buildings along the waterfront.

This is also one of the must see places while in Bergen. Truly fascinating to walk in-between these very old wooden houses and to almost feel the history. It is also highly recommendable to go inside the houses, wether it is a shop, restaurant or any other accessible place.

Beautiful old wooden architecture. When you visit Bryggen/haseatic wharf of Bergen dont forget to go up the stairs on the balcony. From there you have great perspectives for pictures. Inside you will find many arteliers, artist shops and souvenirshops or cafes. Take 1 hour to see everything and include some shops and a drink.
These quarters were the most northern outpost of the north german merchant union. The haseatic League.
The brickwalled houses close to Bryggen are later constructions of this time. You can see some coat of arms of hanseatic cities and outposts.

This was a very interesting tour that we took where we saw the wharf and the buildings around and learned the history of the Hanseatic occupation of the area.
The weather was not good when we went --- very wet --- but is was worth the dampness to see it and hear about it.
