The relaxed atmosphere and the live recital of his work were the highlights and lack of pressuredand cheap, clunky gifts quite refreshing.

We were taken by a fellow local musician to the Grieg compound. There is a small museum with a nice little film accompanied by his music. There is a short walk over to his house, which also overlooks the little retreat in which he did his compositions. The views are beautiful as this is in the hills outside of and overlooking Bergen and the water.
They have built a magnificent gem of a recital and chamber music hall with glass behind the stage, through which you see that little structure where Grieg sequestered himself to work.
Grieg is the pride and joy of Norway in terms of classical music, so the museum and his home are a must-see if you are a musician or fan.

A very good museum/shop. His original home is in very good shape. Remember to visit his composer cottage and the grave of him and his wife, Nina Grieg. His home is situated by the beautiful Nordåsvannet

Yes, it took us almost 30 mins (and assuming you walk the correct direction). But it is worth the walk given the beautiful scenery, the house, the seashore. It is something you may want to visit again. But next time, we will definitely want to catch one of the summer short concerts. They have a small but nicely built performing hall.

I've always enjoyed Grieg's music, so I really wanted to visit this place. The great thing about this museum is that you can see Grieg's house, and his composing hut. It's in a beautiful location and you can listen to his music. We caught the tram out from the city (about 30 mins) and walked from the tram station (about 30 mins). It was well worth it!
