I've always enjoyed Grieg's music, so I really wanted to visit this place. The great thing about this museum is that you can see Grieg's house, and his composing hut. It's in a beautiful location and you can listen to his music. We caught the tram out from the city (about 30 mins) and walked from the tram station (about 30 mins). It was well worth it!

Many people said it took about 20 minutes to walk to Troldhaugen from Hop station. It took us more than 30 minutes. That's because more than half in my group are above 67. You have to back track a bit after you alight at Hop station. There are not many signages but you can always find one when you need one.

Although the museum and the house are not big, we still like it and find it worth visiting, even though the seniors in my group are not familiar with Edvard Grieg.

And, please do prepare coins to buy Bybanen tickets...

The location is very beautiful and the short house tour interesting. Make this stop at Norway's most famous composer's house.

The docent who gave us our tour of the Edvard Grieg home was very good. Although Grieg was not unfamiliar to either of us (we're musicians), the docent's presentation helped bring his life, in that place, into focus for us. Money well spent!

Unless you're a fan don't bother. Nothing much to see really. Some people on my trip were fans of his music and did appreciate the museum and his house. Sometimes you can go to a museum where you know little about the subject but can still be enthralled - not here, not for me anyway.
