The museum depicts life of the Hanseatic traders with lots of original artefacts. The information in English is a bit restricted but the guidebook costing NoK40 is worth having. The other problem is that it is very dark with low levels of lighting so it takes a little while to acclimatise to the dim spaces. Nevertheless, its worth seeing

Entrance is free and the museum gives an insight into the discoveries made in the area of the historic Bryggen and the ongoing battle to preserve the area.

A great way to see inside one of the oldest buildings on the front. Much of the original interior is preserved and you get a great insight into how the traders used to live.

It is amazing how the history regarding the trade in and around Bergen affected the rest of Europe. This is how the businesses were developed and run. The museum is so very well preserved. A must visit.

Bergen is a wonderfully walkable city. The Hanseatic area of Bergen is charming and the museum presents background and context for this quaint part of the city. Everything in Norway seemed expensive to me....this museum included...but it will be worth the kronur to see the museum.
