Not memorable, perhaps even a bit soulless, but functional. Hotel was large enough to house conferences (which were ongoing during our non-conference stay). Good rooms with showers, even if you don't have a harbor view. Smorgasbord for breakfast was above average. Sit-down dinner in the hotel restaurant was fine. Internet was a bit problematic. Just minutes from the downtown area after a pleasant walk along the harbor. Bergen is small so this puts you in the city with easy access to most of its sights without having to park and re-park.

Be aware that this is the good Radisson. The other one in Bergen, which we walked by at one point, looked much less well-preserved, so be specific about the hotel when reserving. Also, this hotel, like NEARLY ALL hotels in Scandinavia features the twin beds pushed together system that might be annoying to couples, although I'm not sure what you can do about it since nearly all hotels are like this.

Room Tip: If you want to pay more you can probably get a window on the harbor. Ours toward the street was fine.

The room I got has wooden floor instead of carpet, which might be better.
The hotel's location is nice, and you can walk to a lot of things from there.
The bed was a proper king size.
It was much better than I expected after reading reviews here.

OK, I have been travelling about on this particular trip for nearly eight weeks and I have been in hotels in, France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Germany to name but a few. Here is what annoys me about some of these hotels and this one in particular. Rooms OK, staff very helpful and can't complain about that. BUT the one thing that really annoys me as a traveller is the advertised internet being "High Speed". God only knows what high speed is to some of these hotels. Germany a week ago 100mbs on cable, 25mbs wireless, that my dear hotel owners is high speed internet. Not the wishy washy rubbish you pump out over your wireless which just about connects with FaceTime (the marriage saver of us travellers). At the moment my computer is connected but my tablet once again has dropped out. It annoys the hell out of me. It's not high speed, it will never be high speed and it totally useless for a big hotel of the future, and if one more hotel tells me it's about capacity I'll scream. If you have 500 rooms make sure your bandwidth will take 500 plus devices (we all have smart phones as well). Right rant over. If you are a tourist coming over the hotel is in a great spot and isn't to bad. The steam room is great. Thanks for reading and now I feel somewhat cleansed enjoy Bergen it's beautiful. PS tablet still not connecting.....ahhhhhhh....

Room Tip: Try and get one with a view of more than a wall (mine has just that). Not enough natural light in some rooms.

I stayed at this hotel with the aim of walking around Bergen taking photo's and taking in some Nordic culture, whilst being comfortable.

Overall the hotel was great, the room was more than adequate and most importantly, the curtains kept out the daylight, which during summer in July, it never actually went pitch black as there was about 6hrs of twighlight.

The "real" coffee in the Filini Restaurant & Bar (not the breakfast area, the actual bar part) was superb, the young man there had clearly been trained on how to make a proper Latte. The food there was also pretty good.

The only downsides were that the hotel staff didnt make it clear that the parking attached to the hotel wasn't the hotel's and that it was paid parking. Not being able read Norweigan didnt help my cause and i ended up with a parking ticket, which is partly my fault as well for not being thorough enough when asking about the parking.
That and the mini bar wasn't restocked in the room, which after being out late into the evening taking photo's & driving around, a quick cold beer was desired but not possible through the lack of restocking.

If you're going to Bergen to chase the Northern lights in July, dont bother, it doesnt get dark enough.

If i were going back to Bergen, i'd stay here again.

The hotel is in a good location for travelers flying in to Bergen. It is the final stop of the Flybussen, it is located just next to Bryggen and the fishing market, so every attraction is not too far away.

We are upgraded to business class rooms when we check in. However, this is similar to a basic room.

The buffet breakfast provides varieties of choice, but there is no change in the food type during our stay of 3 days.
