Fastastic Property!!!

This hotel was one of the major highlights of our two-week European vacation! we knew things were going to be nice when the front desk saw our room assignment, smiled, and said "You're going to like your room!"

We were on the second floor in the corner. Our room was filled with windows overlooking the bay and the Bryggen storefronts just beyond. The funicular could be seen in the dusky rain heading into the clouds. And, we even had a little seating area where we could settle in, watch the rain, and take in the view. The bathroom had a full-sized window, and all windows could be opened. Also, we had a small little balcony (more like a fire escape). But, that allowed us to step out and take in the scenery.

The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom quite spacious. The hotel had a clever way of gaining more room in the bathroom by having a folding glass partition that only had to be maximized when using the shower. And, the window-seat-type ledge allowed ample storage of our toiletries.

The only (and, by comparison, a small) hiccup was our key reader didn't operate for 24 hours, requiring staff to let us into the room whenever we returned. But, for the room itself, that was a small price to pay!

I highly recommend! Their breakfast buffet isn't bad either! Plus, we had to leave the hotel in the wee hours of the morning, and the front desk made sure to provide gluten free options so my husband could eat breakfast before the buffet officially opened. Great hotel.

There is little to criticise about the Clarion Admiral. It is perfectly located to explore Bergen, opposite the famous Bryggen area and right by the ferry terminal. On the quayside is the amazing Fishmarket [qv] and a plethora of other eateries. The main shopping area and bus stops are also close by.
We opted for a corner (double aspect) room with a view over the harbour. Very comfortable and with great views.
Buffet breakfast was ok, as much as these things are, and the only black mark was their total inability to prepare any form of decent breakfast on the day we were leaving to catch the first ferry of the day. Given the hotel is perfectly located for the ferry it is more than logical that some guests may want to catch it. Presenting us with some bread and cheese plus tea or coffee - when we had paid for a full breakfast - was to say the least pretty poor customer service. When we complained they just didn’t get it - no comprehension of the problem. Just poor. It lets the hotel down.

Location is the best part of the Clarion Admiral. Besides that the breakfast is served in a beautiful and big room, with a gorgeous balcony with direct view to Bryggen. Unfortunatelly the rooms needs improvements, mainly in the bathroom. The tiny showers are not properly sealed, so expect a huge water leakage in the floor after each use.

Well located Hotel near the dock and close to the ferry terminal. Our room was adequate with an opening window and comfortable bed. It overlooked a neighbouring building and the downstairs deck where smokers congregated and the smoke wafted up to our room when our window was open. Breakfast was served in the restaurant overlooking the harbour with an outside deck area. Ice machine located near the lift on our floor. Hotel staff were polite and helpful.
The cost of the laundry service is expensive so we used a little laundry just down the road to the right when you exit the building and it was done and folded for one tenth of the price.

The hotel room was small, but had an excellent view of the Bryggen Wharf opposite and situated centrally. The Visitors Centre and fish market were very closeby. The bathroom was a good size, but the shower was over the dangerously high bath and a bit difficult to get in and out of. It would have been nice to have more information in the room about the restaurant, times of breakfast, room service (if any), laundry, etc. Found one of the reception staff very rude (the older blonde woman) who looked like she didn't want to be there or answer any questions. Breakfast was the normal fare that you get anywhere else with the usual salamis, cheese, museli, fruit, yoghurt, danishes and scrambled eggs, bacon, etc.
