Description: Ågot Lian Seafood Restaurant serves tasty Norwegian seafood in a Norwegian environment. We are inspired by traditional Norwegian cuisine, and we are using local produce from Trondelag. The menu will vary with season and availability of fresh produce. On our daytime menu you will find various traditional courses, like traditional fish cakes, shellfish, whale, fish soup, bacalao, fish & chips - and fish of the day. Price range 145 - 265 NOK. In the evening we offer a set menu where you can combine into a 3 - 6 course meal, price range 415 - 670 NOK. We typically use produce like scallops, crayfish, cod, halibut, saithe/coalfish and hake. We gladly provide recommendations on wine and local beer to match the selected menu. We have a fine selection of local craft beer in stock. Additionally, we offer seasonal specialties, like traditional lutefisk in November - December and traditional skrei (migrating cod, liver and roe) in January - March. We focus on healthy and natural food - using only fresh produce, reduced salt contents, healthy oils - and no added preservatives. All food is made from scratch at Ågot's. You'll find us in the middle of Trondheim, by the market square - in Sommergården, a historic building from 1777. Welcome!

Cracking fish n chips! Great little place for first class seafood and I love the fact that they feature only micro brewed beer!

Probably one of the best seafood restaurants I've been to in Norway. This is very basic Norwegian seafood, but well prepared and with that little extra touch. It is also extremely good value. In addition to the food they stock the complete line of products from Kinn brewery, one of the best breweries in Norway and very good even on an international scale. Those beers are worth a visit on their own. They are also pleasantly priced.

Ågot Lian is a newcomer to the restaurant scene in Norway, specializing in seafood. The name stems from a female relative of one of the owners, apparently known for her good fish dishes. The main concept is no-nonsense traditional and simple Norwegian fish dishes, with some modern variations. This restaurant is quite close to my office, so I've tried it at several occasions.

They do the food rather well. You get good fish, without any nonsense, but nothing spectacular either. I'd call it good craftsmanship, but they occasionally go wrong on the finishing touches, like serving slightly stale bread or a boring and uninspiring presentation. All-in-all, it's still pretty good, showing the traditions of Norwegian coastal cuisine.

The restaurant is furnished rather sparingly, mostly consisting of a large naked room with huge closeups of fish and sea creatures on the walls, and no dividers of any kind. The pictures make for something interesting to look at, but I still find the restaurant lacking in atmosphere. The large, naked room also has very little in the way of sound dampening, enhancing all noise and giving you the feel of sitting in an industrial hall. With two tables occupied, it was hard not to catch every word of the conversation at the other end of the room. Not a plus.

The service is generally adequate, but nothing special. There is some outdoor seating on the sidewalk during summer, but this is rather limited and rather cramped.
