Loved this museum. The guide, who had the most amazing-sounding first name, was entertaining and informative. He played a few instruments for us.

Shame there isn't a more interactive bit for kids to try their music skills.

I waas on a guided visit and we were rushed through the various rooms. There were any things to look at and insufficient time to study them. The guide was excellent in his knowledge and keyboard playing. As a trumpet and french horn player I would like to have seen more brass instruments...

Excellent tour guides, great setting. I liked especially the guides playing on those ancient instruments.

April 1st. Their website says it is open 11 to 16:00. Get a bus there and discover part of it is closed for refurb ( it's been closed all Winter until today so one may have thought it would be finished) and the rest is only open with a guided tour at 13:30. So in reallity it's only open for a guided tour at 13:30. Talk about misleading advertising!

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry that the information on our website was misleading. It has now been made more clear, that it is the musically guided tour at 13 pm on Sundays that makes it worth paying us a visit this time of the year (April). It is correct as you say that the exhibition in the Barn is closed due to reconstruction. Unfortunately our renewing process has been delayed, but we are very much looking forward to opening “New Ringve” in spring 2013. Kind Regards, Ingrid Dyrnes.

Trondheim has relatively few tourist attractions, but the Ringve Museum should be better-known. Located on a Victorian estate, surrounded by lush gardens, it provides an excellent, personalized view of the history of western music. Most of the tour guides seem to be accomplished musicians and play many of the instruments on display----come of which belonged to composers like Chopin and Beethoven. I was with some 13 and 14 year old cousins, and even they were interested in the museum. The Ringve Museum should be a "must see' for visitors to Trondheim
