We stayed here one night, the hotel is stylish, my room was spotless, my bathroom was spotless and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was a real treat. The hotel is located 200m's from the train station, so it's an easy walk. Trondheim is not big, and you can walk from the hotel to the Cathdral and around the town centre easily.

unfortunately we did not have breakfast as we had an early train to catch and had to be at the station by 7.15am the hotel only starts serving breakfast at 7.00am which is rather late. we asked for a packed breakfast and unfortunately it was more like a school packed lunch. As I am vegetarian i got a cheese sandwich with capsicum and there was mistake with may husbands order, we asked for only fish but he got ham instead, We should have checked it before leaving or asked if we could pick a few pastries and bread etc, so apart from that one small glitch, this is a good hotel.

Please note that there was nothing for vegetarians in the evening meal option, hence we found an Italian which did veggie pasta and pizza.

These are the only 2 reasons I am not giving the hotel a 5 rating.

NEGATIVE: I am really disappointed with this hotel. The toilet is not clean. Disgusting to say this, but it was yellowish and stains were very visible. The interior were not impressive given that it was a deluxe room. The most ridiculous part of the room was the mini-bar. Why put the "fridge" if it could not chill the drinks???

POSITIVE: On the other, the hotel could redeem itself with these positive sides. The view is nice. The hotel is just next to the bus stop going to the airport. The breakfast was realy impressive! The best in Norway!

We stayed here with my parents and children for one night on the way to Stockholm. We had an initial problem with the room assigned to my handicapped mother (which was inordinately far from the lobby), but the staff addressed the issue promptly and professionally, and we were moved (without any fuss to us) to rooms that were perfect for our family. The hotel is just across the river (with a pedestrian bridge right at the hotel entrance) from a new, trendy shopping and dining district, which was a plus.

This hotel has a great location beside the river and within walking distance of the best parts of the city. We stayed twice and both times had modern rooms in the newer part of the hotel. It's certainly worth asking for one of these types of room as we did see other rooms in the older building and they were not very nice. The main reason to stay here is the fantastic breakfast which is one of the best we have ever had. Go early and take your time! The service is also really friendly and helpful.

Average hotel room - clean and spacious enough. OK location next to the harbor and good location for city center. Breakfast is why you should stay here over any other hotel in Trondheim. Fresh squeezed juice station, omelette station, wide selection of fresh baked breads, cereals, cheeses, and pastries, coffee bar with barista, meat slicing station, waffles, even meatballs. Can be slightly crowded, but well manageable. Some local friends of ours come here to eat breakfast before work or on weekends.

Stayed two nights at the hotel in August. What strikes you immediately is the welcoming service from all the staff, all smiling and giving very very good service. The breakfast is ranked as Norways best hotel breakfast, and you understand why when you are there, 4 - 6 chefs preparing anything from smoothies to salmon dishes or just anything you like. Even their range of hot smoked salmon is incredible, make sure that you have enough time to enjoy a gastronomic travel through Norway in the breakfast buffet. And in the afternoon they have a small tasting session in the lobby, with cheese and other regional products. I stayed in room 237, a traditional hotel room, no AC so on a sunny day it was a little hot but the window towards the harbour could easily be opened, but during night to much noise outside to keep the window open. I also heard the piano man downstairs, so make sure that you get a room with a view towards the river and not over the piano bar. If you are looking for very good service and friendly staff serving delicious breakfast in a hotel with traditional rooms, I highly recommend Rica Nidelven!

Absolutely fabulous brunch! In addition to the lovely Norwegian selections, there were many great food stations of things made just for you: omelets, mini-smoothies of fresh fruit, carving station, espresso bar, orange juice machine that squeezes it for you as you watch, enormous range of choices for everything! Plus, the room was lovely and spacious. Easy walk to Nidaros, restaurants, shopping.
