“Very nice camp site close to Kristiansand”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

My wife and me spent three nights at the Kristiansand Feriesenter, which we just found on the way. As others have mentioned, the facilities are very modern and of high standard. We typically don´t like such large camp sites (Scandinavian "family centers") but if you stay in this one and you have a regular car (or bike or just yourself and a tent) you can choose between several wonderful spots by the seaside, close to the rocks, with unspoilt fantastic views. Unforgettable! The location is also convenient for trips to Kristiansand and nice places around.

I stayed here two nights in June, in a tent. There was parking on the pitch and the pitch itself had a beautiful view. It is easy to find, being signposted from the motorway. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms are modern. If you are using the showers and have paid for a card, put in your card to start the shower and then remove it! I made the mistake of not removing it and accidentally went through both the 4 minute showers that I had paid for. Not a big deal, but it meant that I had to drive onwards towards Germany the next day having not had a shower in the morning. If you have a car then it is well situated for town and Dyreparken, it's best to have a car though. I didn't look at public transport options, but it doesn't seem like the sort of place that buses go to frequently. Overall, it was a good, well equipped and modern campsite, if a little pricy. (I paid about 600kr for a tent and parking for two nights and two showers) However, you'd expect to pay a lot more in a hotel!

Room Tip: Tent pitches J7,8 and 9 are quiet, as they are not on a through road to anywhere, and have wonderful...

Nice holiday rentals and campsite ideally situated by the sea and close to the region’s most popular attraction «Dyreparken».
We rented a cabin for 3 days. Very simple, without water, but nice toilets and bathrooms in a building nearby. The cabins are in the middle of nature, but you can drive to the door to about half of them. There’s a kitchenette with fridge and 2 cooking plates. 4 beds (bunk beds) in a separate part, and a sofa bed in the living room.
A few more facilities could raise the standard a lot. We missed a rack for drying the dishes, and some cooking equipment, plates and cups would have been convenient. The only sitting place was the sofabed, so a couple of small chairs had also been useful. Of course a microwave would be great, but that’s probably a too big investment to keep the prices at the same level. If you just need a place to sleep and do some simple cooking, this is ideal.
There are also more expensive and luxurious accommodations here, as well as a campsite for tents and caravans.
There are places to buy food, paid cooking facilities, and benches and tables both outside and inside some of the buildings for everyone to use. There’s also a good playground close to the reception, including a waterslide. You can walk to the beach in just one or two minutes from all the accommodations. It’s also possible to hire a boat, but we didn’t try that.
