Hard to get a reaction from staff when arriving - reception unmanned. When asking for a wake-up call, I was told it was to be done by programming the TV-set. Nope, TV told me that that function was "unavailable at this time, try again later", just as some of the TV-channels.
The hotel information package mentioned a phone, but that had probably been taken by the last guest. WIFI was unavailable, and the room boiling hot - no wonder, radiator was set at 30 C!

The next day I tried to get the problem solved by contacting the staff - only to discover that they were not proficient in neither English nor Norwegian. They did not understand the difference between not being able to program the TV for a wake up call and turning it on. With a smile I was told that since nobody else had complained, the problem was me and not that the hotel couldn't fix the TV-set, the missing phone or the WiFi.

I'm not particularly amused by this. The hotel is far too expensive to warrant this kind of behaviour and faulty equipment.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel!

We stayed at this hotel whilst on a whistlestop tour of Rygge and Oslo and it is a motorway motel. I've never been to Norway before and I knew it was expensive but for the price we paid, was expecting a lot. There were a couple of electric heaters in the room (which to be fair were very efficient) and a drain smell in the bathroom and the smallest cupboard I have ever seen in a hotel (it was a family room).

On the plus side, the restaurant was great, breakfast was fantastic and the children's area was a lifesaver. Also there was a lounge type area which meant we could sit outside the room and chat whilst the children went to sleep which was a bonus we didn't expect.

Ok as a one night stopover.

We stayed here as a family of 4 for just one night before an early flight. We all wished we had stayed in Oslo instead. The drive would have been better than this place. The room was small and smelly. The bathroom couldn't have been any more basic and had no ventilation. The pull out bed for the children was extremely uncomfortable. We could here the cars from the motorway all night long. For entertainment, all we could do was visit the petrole station...The hotel is located at a motorway rest stop/petrole station. You are stuck there until it is time to leave!

Tone, the receptionist, was super helpful to us. Although the hotel has an excellent location, we couldn't find it because of the different names it goes by, i.e. "Rygge Vest", "Flyplasshotellet", "By the Way-Rygge", "Marche Rygge Y". It is located next to the gas station within the service plaza. When you see the marquis "Marche" which is the restaurant attached to the hotel, you are there!!!
By Norwegian standards, this hotel is very reasonably priced! The rooms are spacious and very clean. The breakfast was good.

Basic motel/hotel by the E6-highway, a five minutes drive from the Rygge-Moss airport and Moss city. Rooms are quite ok, with comfy beds. Bathroom slightly worn. Decent and healthy breakfast. A smiling and very humourous clerk at arrival late in the evening, and generally good service overall.
