I would love to give this hotel a good review, as its a beautiful place and people should visit it, but we had the most surreal experience there, one which I cannot recommend. We stayed here for 3 nights. We had a family room, in the new wing facing the ocean. The room was lovely, and spacious enough for the 4 of us. My mother had a single room and it was dreadful. Room did not come up to what we think are "today's basic hotel standards".
The hotel itself is a beautiful building and on a beautiful plot. The pool was closed for refurbishment while we were there - we would have appreciated being told that when we booked.
The breakfasts were wonderful and the conservatory where breakfasts were served was pretty.
The worst part was that during our 3 night stay we could not eat in the restaurant once!! Our first night the restaurant was fully booked, the second night we were told the restaurant was closed because it was Sunday!!! And the 3rd night it was closed because it was a public holiday. Super strange for a hotel! We had no choice but to get the receptionist to help us order in some Chinese takeaway that we had to eat in the bar.More
