We visited the Shalimar on Sunday at 6 pm. We had movie tickets at 9, but did not tell this to the waitress. Something we regretted in the end of the visit.
Other visitors inside the restaurant was a Pakistani family and a couple, in addition to us. In the neighboring room to the restaurant, we had a feeling that it was arranged a wedding - which may explain why the service was slow this Sunday. But we were never told by our waitress if this was actually the case.
First of all, it took 20 minutes from when we came into the restaurant until we got to order. Then, when we had ordered, we sat for 1 hour and 30 minutes (!) without getting any starters. One member from our table went to the staff two times (we didn't get in touch with the waitress and actually had to walk over and approach them) and eventually asked to get the two starters served concurrently with the four main courses. Five minutes later we were served two starters and two main courses.
After also receiving the last main courses, we concluded that the Lamb Korma was not Korma. But with no time to send it back to the kitchen. Finally we had to leave the "Korma" because it was so crazy over-spiced. The Butter Chicken, however, was completely tasteless.
The conclusion was that we just had to eat our half bad food and ask for the check - which was met by a giggle from the waitress who wondered if we should leave already (even though we had stated this on the two previous occasions).
The bill however, showed very different drinks then we had ordered, and the waiter (we gave up the waitress) insisted stubbornly that it was Korma we had eaten (it was not!). Thus: no discount, no apology, no service, and bad food.
Complete failure! My worst restaurant experience ever.
